    Bass Skin

Thanks Rayburn guy for directing me to the page. Hummm not sure. I can't really tell from the pic that its fish skin, seems like it would be a bit more work to me. Skinning the fish, treating the skin and then applying it to the bait, and that itself seems like it would be hard. I to taxidermy too and have worked with fish skins. I think it would be hard to put it on a bait. But hey, what ever works for you. I always throw mine back too, except for a striper or two when I wanna fry some up

  3. You guys are frick'n hilarious...thank you for reply'n. And yes, if anyone wants mine, have at it. I really only do natural stuff anyways, don't have the capability to make something of my own. Everyone does such a great job, just love to come on here and see everyones work. I just spent four hrs hand painting a pumpkinseed today, when I finish it, I'll want your input. Thanks again you crazy people hahahaha
  4. Hey fellow bait painters, I see a lot of beautiful baits on here. I need to know whats proper, say I see a pattern that I really love and want to try it out. I'm assuming the proper thing to do is get permission to paint it?? What if we see a pattern that we want to add to our list of baits? Again I'm assuming we should get permission. Just curious about this...thanks in advance.
  5. Heck what I do for my baits, if all they need is a new paint job is a coat of primer. Tape the bill and spray some white primer and I'm ready to go. If the paints chipped just sand it enough to smooth the edges and then prime it. Easy to paint on.
  6. Hey Ben, thanks for this link. There are some on there that I'm interested in. Never heard of ecrater though??
  7. I love this topic, is there any reason you guys aren't posting pics so we can see them? Keep it up and I agree with above, this needs its own place on the forum...
  8. Thanks guys, yeah not finding many. Thought there might be some guys on here that build them that might sell some. And I'm mostly looking for baits to paint for myself. I might sell some too, depending, but mostly for myself. I did find the ones on ebay...thanks for getting back to me
  9. Does anyone know where I can get some swimbait blanks, ones like the bull shad?

I like it! Do you mind me asking what your base colors are?
  11. These pics belong to the post above, I also use a two part epoxy that I use for taxidermy and make eyes and paint them with the above mentioned ways like in the bluegills here.
  12. I use the q tip method, they also have "Dot" painters at some hobby stores. Sometimes after I use the qtip I actually use a tiny paint brush to detail my eyes. And, sometimes I just paint them on like the attached pic. I'll post another pic of my detailed eyes.

Surfk9 I think the bodies were from Preditorbassbaits or Bustinbassbaits and Timbojrjr I actually used taxidermy epoxy, it's a two part epoxy that is the consistancy of puddy and make my own eyes and then hand paint them Thanks for the compliment
