I'm in OH as well and I agree! (Although I think they work anywhere there's bass!) I have the Bears injection mold, but have no experience with the one from Basstackle. I would caution you to make sure you get a hand pour mold to start. I don't see one in hand pour on Bears site, although he may have one. Del's and Basstackle have the hand pours for sure. When I started out I bought the 4" & 5" combo mold from Del and it is a nice mold. To answer your question about differences in the baits, I believe the Bear's version has a slightly slimmer diameter than the others but it's barely noticeable.

I've been eyeing that lateral perch. A bit expensive, but I think it's a very neat looking bait. Good work!

They probably spent all their earnings this year on legal fees sending cease & desist letters to garage pourers like us. LOL

I have used M-F super soft and Chemionics Medium thus far. M-F is by far the most expensive out there, but if you don't buy directly from them you can find it cheaper (hint,hint). It is nice, but way too soft IMO. Needs about 2:1 ratio plastic to salt to get tough enough. The Chemionics medium is really great for a bit less money. I will get the Chemionics Hard next, as I haven't yet found one I think is as durable as I'd like.

I usually just buy them. If it doesn't work out there's someone that'll buy 'em at 90% of what you paid on ebay or the various forums.

I have the Basstackle injector and love it. I don't wanna bash anyone, but I would look at Bear's injection molds. He is the king of injection molds! The design makes them far easier to inject consistently. I use his Chemionics plastic as well, and it is great.

Bear's Kelly Green is the ticket, as stated. Some of the glitters will change color when heated. My green from Del turns purple... go figure.

If I'm understanding you right I think you would need a sprue on both sides of the mold for this to work. Cannot comment on the interaction between the clay and plastisol.

I stick with just a few colors. No sense being out there with 15 colors debating which one to use. Junebug, Green Pumpkin, Black/Red Shad

When I started pouring I had one 4-cavity mold for stick baits. It took damn near 1 hour to make 20-30 baits. You may have to spend a bit more up front, but you will be glad you did. Having only one mold can be a slow process... heat, pour, demold, heat, pour, demold, etc. You'll spend more time at the microwave than you like. What you are looking for is liquid plastisol, but that's about as good an answer as you are likely to get. The exact blends from each manufacturer are most likely quite different. I assume the recipe is a closely guarded secret to the manufacturers. My best suggestion would be to look for others in Australia with interest and all throw in on a drum. Split 10 ways it may be easier to stomach.

I had a similar issue with the smaller version of that mold. All the advice given is good. It is intended to be injected

I put Kevin's in the toaster oven all the time and have never had an issue with the knob. It'd take some serious sustained heat to melt that thing.

Thanks for the info! I will be ordering the CLU lures version to try (even though it's crazy expensive). Really wishing that Scuttlebugger was of a more appropriate LMB size saltybugger! I don't own a rod that will toss a 2 oz. lure! A 1 oz. version would be killer!

Hey all! I've been on the soft plastics side forever, but I have a question for the hard bait guys... I love to fish a jitterbug, but as I get more critical of my equipment I no longer have the confidence in it I once did. These things are just made like garbage anymore!!! The hardware is all crap, and the jointed ones fall apart incessantly. Does anyone make a similar lipped topwater that utilizes high quality components??? Thanks in advance!

I have just started injecting in the last week. It seems to me that it would be quite advantageous to preheat the injector before injecting the 1st batch. After that it is hot enough from the plastic. What is the best way to preheat the injector??? Thanks in advance for the advice!

I was looking at those last night. To get the top one that looks like a core shot are you just dipping the insert in red prior to inserting and injecting?

As has been stated, they will work, but don't use much worm oil. I have had too much worm oil eat through plastic bags and even dixie cups if left too long.
