all i have is the starter set of createx paints. its just plain ol transparent blue. i think the pearl behind it makes it pop a little.
-
thank you

thanks guys. top coat is etex. or enviro tex lite. you can get it at A.C. Moore or Hoby Lobby. i use my 50% coupons this bait actually has 2 coats because the first one was still tacky after 12 hrs. the rest will prob get another ctat as well we have lots of mudfish around here and they can destroy some baits

for me to get a good flat side i slow down once the cavity is close to being full. i also like to pour plastic until the back is kinda mounded above the cavity that way when it shrinks it shrinks to flat instead of caving in. looking at the top of the head, that from the mold. you could try filling the cavity to just under that part on the mold and as long as you keep the plastic in the cavity you should have to worry about edges they should be perfect.

im fishing seminole in feb and march and my confidence is sky high right now. she was only 2oz short of 7lbs too lol

wire wasnt thick enough...kinda knew that...still worked ok and looked like it was suppose to. baits are a little heavy for my combos, but ill work on that
-
ill give that a shot thanks.
-
Thanks. the lake ill be trying it out on is clear but has a slight tent to it.

what paints are you using?
-
those look awesome.

what about if you keep the bulk up front but ad a little "V" channel....this will keep all the advantages you wanted add "rutters" to keep in a straight line, and take a little bit of plastic away to allow it to wrap around the hook. it wouldnt even have to be a "V" shape either just a line and you could have it go just deep enough so that the nise would still be the same thickness as the orginial so it would tear as easy.

thats a pretty wicked looking bait. nice job

to create the hook slot take some tin foil and fold it to how you want your hook slot to look. then straighten out some paperclips and run it throught the tin fold. now you can set that on top of you mold pour your plastic around the tin foil and have a hook slot.....make sur eyou let it set up just a tad longer before demolding.

looks like chain link fence.

so i wanted to redo my Craw Shad color. i feel like i have accomplished that. i really like the way it turned out. it looked awesome in the water today. i would like my orange to be a little brighter and i should have added a lil more orange to the red to tone it down a little, BUT i feel like it flows well and the colors work together. i didnt catch anything on it today, they only wanted top water. but i do see myself using this quite often.

i wanted to put my own twist on these but i messed it up (i know what i did wrong so next ones will be "mine") anyway, i even went ahead and put the mustad KVD short shank treble hooks on there now i just need academy to put another color on clearance so i can make a shad pattern.

what if you made the injection in the middle and had the baits off each side? also if you have dual injectors, you could just suck up the same plastic into both and that would give you enought plastic to make it through the whole mold.
-
if it would have worked out as planned the blue and purple would come through where the mesh covered up, but it didnt work out that way lol. the orang is alot brighter in person
-
looks good. alot better than my first bluegill lol.
-
did you get those from preditor baits? also. the "cheek" of the bottom one...what brnad and color is that?
