HI I'm new here, looks like a great forum for lure painting. Anyone have a good site I can get some "unpainted Spy Baits".

I have a chance to pick up some Rapala DT crankbaits for $2.00. the only problem is the CB are gold foil & black top. the bass around here like silver & black better. my question is. can I change the gold finish to silver & how? do I lighty sand the top coat & paint it silver?

I was thinking, how about after the swimbait is poured & cooled. take a very small 1/16" metal tube and run it thru the SB to remove the plastic. then use a needle to thread the line thru the hole. or maybe cut a pc. of the tube & glue it in the SB?

Yes you can, I do it all the time. I add some old plastic to heated plastic when I'm pouring, But you have to be careful with the old plastic colors. It will change the color of the new plastic color. If you are going to melt a large amount of old plastic, I always pour fresh plastic in the cup with old plastic.

BTW - how many oz. of plastic & who's greenpumpkin are you using?

Does anyone know if anybody makes a aluminum mold to make a grub like a "Gary Yamamoto 5" Double-Tail Hula Grub"? I see Basstackle makes an double tail grub mold and an skirt mold. is this the only way to make a Double-Tail Hula Grub?

I agree with you 100%. I have three BassTackle molds, and one of their injectors. Although I'm new to pouring, I find using their molds and injectors a pleasure to use. I find the injector extremely easy to clean after each pour and don't have to worry about the tip falling into the hot plastic. Next time I need a new mold, BassTackle will be the first place I'll look.

I just got the "Pot Belly shad" from basstackle.com. I really like it. swims great. you can make it with a hollow chamber or not. it has 5/16" eye sockets, I added plastic 3-D eyes. it looks good, If I was a fish I'd eat it.

I'm looking to get the Twinjector from BassTackle. Has anyone used it? I did watch the video. Anyone have any probelms using it. I know it works in top pour molds, but will it work in muti cavity injection molds?

I'm new to pouring so I got the infrared thermometer Frank listed the link too. Man, it make it so easy to get the right temp. to pour. Only way to pour.
