  1. X2 on the Pumpkin Seed,I never have painted one that I liked.  Craw patterns are a pain as well but I don't think there is really a wrong way to do one. I love Blue Gill patterns but I think my favorite of all is a Blue Back Shad pattern I do.

  2. I think the 1.5 crankbait platform would be a major design to expand upon, increase durability, Flat sided models, ect... A great popper style bait that sits in the water similar to the original Rebel P70 would be another good one to have, these are fish catching machines.  Personally I would love to see a lipless suspending/slow sinking twitch bait like the Rapala Twitching Rap or Mirrolure 17MR models, these would be very popular with the salty inshore guys on the East Coast down to the Gulf. Good luck and I look forward to the possibility of buying USA made blanks!!!

  3. Sharpie makes water based paint pens now and they work well for more than just signatures. I purchased a 3 pen set of pearl silver, pearl gold and pearl copper and use them for all kinds of stuff and haven't had any issues with them running.

  4. I'm not sure what your regular clear coat is but you could try to apply one coat of your normal CC, scuff it up, then try dipping it in the matte lacquer clear and see what happens. Seems like I've heard the best results came from using the matte Plasti-Dip but I haven't tried it before.

  5. Has anyone used PVC trim board to make a suspending jerkbait/twitch bait? I plan on trying to replicate a Rapala Twitching Rap this winter out of balsa and I also want to try and make some from this trim board you guys are using if it will work for those types of lures? Leave it to me to try and start my lure building with one of the toughest lures to build.... I hear making suspending lipless lures is quite annoying...LOL

  6. The green craw is done with netting, I've seen several painters use the same stuff. As far as the other goes I believe it is a foiled image lure with some freehand added to it. If you look at the upper shoulder on the lure it looks like a seam from the foil but I can't say for sure. Either way they look nice.

  7. Came across this product the other day and it seems like an alternative to Etex. According to their website it is much more UV stable than the other epoxy type clear coats that a lot of us use. Not sure if someone has already mentioned this before but I figured I would share it with the group. Maybe some of you technical gurus can look at the data sheet and see if it looks like it may work okay. Tight lines y'all...

  8. Joe,

Does the paint cause more tip dry with your air brush than Createx?

I only have tip dry issues when I'm spraying a heavy black for really dark details. Last night I thinned down some black with their gloss clear and it seemed to help that issue a lot. The pearls are really what sold me on using these paints, I can spray a pretty tight line with them and I could never do that when I was using createx paints. The bond with these paints to my primer coat is also much better in my opinion.  I cut a lot of stencils from masking tape and I haven't had the paint lift a single time since I made the switch to Testors Aztek.

  9. Made the switch from Createx paints over to the Testors Aztek paints a while back and couldn't be happier. As far as your question about heat setting the paint, I do not heat set this paint unless I laydown a heavy pearl coat or base coat and I'm in a hurry, heat setting the paint is not a problem if you choose to do so. I haven't had any issues with these paints yet and it seems to play nice with using Etex for a clear coat.

  10. How they working for sigs Joe? Microns give me fits for some reason..I blame it on being a lefty lol

For the ones that I've done, they seem to be fine. I have the extra fine tip models but they're not as fine as a regular ink pen though. Give them a try and see what you think.

  11. Not sure if you have a Facebook account but if you do, check out the Rebel Buy and Trade page( mostly Rebel lure talk and not much buying or selling).... There's a few guys up there that can tell you about every Rebel ever made. I've learned a lot from the guys on there, I'm a Rebel P70 P.O.P R junky myself, and an expensive habit it is....lol

  12. Nice baits man. I tell all my" bass fishing only" buddies that if they ever go with me and start catching big Redfish on top water, they'll never go back to bass fishing again.....same goes for finding a school of gator specks. I still love bass fishing tournaments and stuff but my true place now is the salt marsh here in NC. When the bite is on, there ain't nothing better. Keep up the good work and stay salty my friend..
