  1. I have been using Gorilla super glue. Mostly because that is what I had on hand at the time. It is working great. I put 2-5 coats on with a paper towel and sand with 400 grit sand paper between each coat. After the last coat I finish with 2500 grit paper. The end result is totally smooth surface to paint on. I did skip one step. I take wood putty and put it over the entire bait. Sand it down till I can see the wood again. I do this to fill any voids the sanding process creates. Then seal it with super glue. The result of the glue and the wood putty makes a rock hard surface.
  2. I use a paper towel. It works great with very little sticking issues.
  3. I am kind of new to this but one thing I have found to be a great help is tongue depressors. I paint Half of one to look like the bait I want to paint. This is to make sure it all works right. I then write on the back what I did. That way it is no big deal if you mess up getting it right. Sometimes I have gone through 2-5 before I get the look I want. I will have to agree with RayburnGuy. Air pressure plays a big part in being able to shoot the fine lines. Most of the time I am running around 5psi for the detail work and about 15 for the rest. With using the AutoAir colors I thin them about 50% with there thinner. This allows me to get the fine details I like. Also if you are just starting out Stencils are a great way to go. I have found some great stencils in the Fingernail airbrushing section. They have a lot of small stencils that give some great results.
  4. I use Auto Air Colors they are the same people that make Createx. On the web site for AutoAir colors they have some information about Candy's. If you go there you can see what the different Candy's look like over different base colors. This has helped me a lot.
  5. I have just been through testing a lot of different types of paint. I have also just started and have a few baits under my belt now. I will say I have tried Testors, Createx, Folk Art. These are all ok to use but after a lot of testing I finely use Auto Air Paint. It is made be the same folks that make Createx but it is a differnt blend that does not have to have the heat to cure. I also use there brand of thinner instead of some thing else. I have gotten great results with this paint and plan on sticking with it. I do have some issues with Dry Tip but you get that with any paint. I tend to thin the paint out a little more and it shoots just fine. Just my 2 cents.
