  1. My name is Tim Hartmann.  I am have been married for 7 years and have two beautiful kids, a black lab cross and a cat.  I love to catch smallmouth most of all along with walleye, pike, largemouth, etc.  I paint when I can and I sell the unpainted blanks along with a ton of other fishing tackle on my website.  I can't wait to try my new Patriarch this summer!

As far as letting you know how I do something I am an open book.  I can't reply on a lot of the posts because I have never done most of the things people are asking for.  I will help you mix colors, get a cool scale pattern, give you my crankbait color charts, etc.  You just need to ask.  Thanks and I love this site!

  2. Walleyes mainly hit minnow or shad type cranks.  I have not had luck on the fatter cranks that bass go after.  Husky jerks, countdowns, flicker shads, smash shads, original floaters, etc.  We mainly fish for walleyes up here so I don't have much bass stuff but a ton of walleye cranks.

Here is a couple of baits that I got painted this week.  I think I may of about figured out on how he did it.  I just put the shower loofa on the bait with no paint then painted it all white and then went to the colors.  But I sprayed the colors front the back at an angle.  It changed quite a bit with how steep of an angle you sprayed it at.  I would like to make a video about how to spray this but I am not sure how my camera would work for this.  I really want a camcorder for doing videos which I may have to invest in soon.

  4. Ya I like the look of the lipless also.  It must be the KO to the Rapala Rippin' Rap.  It weights 21 grams (.7oz) .  It has a bunch of rattles in it and sound like a bunch of bb's.  The length of the bait is 2 3/4" long.  It has a big 3d eye I measured it at 8mm so I would have to get some eyes for them unless you guys have suppliers that sell 8mm eyes.

  5. I can say if a cheaper brush or more expensive brush would be better for a beginner just because I started with an Iwata Revolution BR and I am still impressed with it 3 years later.  I might of got out of it using a cheaper airbrush with the junk I produced at the beginning because the price would of been a throw away.  I think if you would spend close to $100 you may push yourself more to learn the craft of painting baits etc.  I would just find a nice airbrush with a .3mm needle anything bigger it will be very hard to get nice detail.  There is one on ebay for $78.95 with free shipping.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Iwata-Medea-Revolution-BR-Gravity-Feed-Airbrush-Internal-Mix-R2500-/131049126455?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e8322fa37 and thats about what I paid for mine.

  6. I would recommend a gravity fed airbrush and an oil less air compressor as big as you can afford.  I have a Iwata Revolution BR that seems to be able to do almost anything.  I started out with a little 3 gallon pancake air compressor but it would turn on and make a ton of noise every 15 minutes.  Now I have a 33 gallon upright and I can fill it once and spray for 3 hours at night.  My uncle does taxidermy and he uses badger airbrushes but he has to spray at about 40 psi and the gravity fed that I have can spray at about 7 psi for fine detail and 20 psi for fast coverage.
