  1. Considering the charts for Piedmond, NC has lower humidity lvl's then my location, I would say you are one of the lucky ones. SC is one of the few places you can walk and swim at the same time.
  2. I can tell you that no matter how many air filters you have, even the small pistol grip ones that attach between your brush and the hose, you will still get water in your brush if you spray to long. Adding a moisture trap directly on your compressor will not help, it will just take a few more min for your brush to start spitting. I have the pistol grip moisture trap on mine, only so I can get a visual indication when water is building up in the hose. When moisture starts to build up I just take my moisture trap off, hold my thumb over the hose to let pressure build up and just let go to blast moisture out. I do this about 20 times to make sure I get most the water out, then keep brushing. I have to do this every 30min or so, but thats airbrushing. Also I do live where it gets pretty humid, so it is more of a problem for me. I have talked to a friend who has been airbrushing photo realistic art for over 30 years and this is the same method he uses as well.
  3. I tossed the lure in my pond, solid black. I definitely don't have any water around me that is warm enough to make the black turn clear. I just slapped it on my lure before giving it much thought about what temp it changed at. I thought it was worth a try.

    Hook Rash

I was just wondering how everyone deals with hook rash on there lures. I have quite a collection of different clear coats now and it seems no matter what i use all end up with scratches on the sides after every season. I usually just sand them lightly and recoat them with a thin clear. I've tried different hooks. I like the owner stingers because the tips curl in a bit and seem to bite less on the lure. No matter what I do I always just end up putting a new clear on them. Has anyone found a way to eliminate hook rash?
  5. I got it from paintwithpearl, I've used there flake before and decided to give this stuff a try.
  6. I purchased some thermal paint just to play around with. I painted a DT-10 solid red and mixed the thermal paint in my clear. It came out cool, looks black when cold, red when warm. I know the temp in water varies everywhere but thought maybe at deep water where it is cooler and colors fade out anyways I could get my lure to turn black for a better silhouette. I was wondering if anyone here has every played around with this stuff or have any good ideas of how to use it.
  7. I have used this holographic glitter before from the same site. It works quite well, very similar to the alsa prizma coat. It works the same way, if you spray in very thin "dusting" layers you get a very distinctive rainbow effect. If you spray it on too thick the flakes do not lay flat on the surface. You still see all the colors but will distort the rainbow reflection it gives off. I sprayed it with a .2mm tip with no problems, just need to thin your clear out a bit.
  8. You're looking to make a stippling effect, just take both tips of your airbrush off. I think all the iwata airbrushes can do this. The tip size of your airbrush will make a difference in the size of the dots it splatters. Take the first tip off to do fine detail and the second to make all sorts of stippling effects.
  9. I am new here but I use an iwata hp-ch when i'm painting multiple baits, and to do my fine detail i use my hp-b. Only problem is trying to do fine detail with the createx paints in pearls, they do not spray well in the .2mm tips. Larger tip size would help with that, i guess it's give and take.
