  1. Kris what I suggest for a butt cap for your rod is go to lowes and buy a chair leg cover the size of the butt end of your rod. Yow get 4 for less than 4 dollars. If the cap is a little oversize in diameter build up the butt end with electrical tape until you have a loose sliding feel. You can epoxy the cap on with 5 minute epoxy if you want the cap to be permanent.
  2. where are you in central AL?

    I'm in Pell City

  3. The first thing I do after pouring spinnerbaits or jigs is to soak them in white vinegar for exactly 1 hour no more because your hooks can start to rust. This method oxidizes the lead so paint will stick to the heads. I use whats called Gesso to coat my heads prior to painting with any type of liquid paint. I was taught this method form the original inventor (Loyd Talent) of the Manns's Rat Tom Mann purchased all of his molds and rights to market the rats.
  4. New to TU. I recently purchased a new lead mold tip up with screw lock jig mold tuj-6-sla. The mold calls for a gamakatsu 604 extra long aberdeen 90 degree hook. Does anyone know from experince what would be a cheaper alternative hook without modifying the mold.
  5. I have had the same problem with the pour spout dripping. What I have found is to take a teaspoon of borax laundry powder and add to the lead pot and stir it around several times. this makes all impurities to clump removing them with a spoon. I tried wax for removing impurities and found to be extremely flameable. ] I really appreciate all the great info on this site. I'm a new member to this site, but have read up and learned very much. Started slow, but have caught on. I used the candle for a release and it seems to be working well - making sure the molds are warm/hot before pouring - and all the great tips. Have been just pouring jigs and really like what i see. Yet - this is where i need help. I have a bottom pourer and it seems to clog up very easy. I took a drill bit to push through the bottom. It works, but now I can't even a drip............ It's a little frustrating, but am progressing carefully. Would really appreciate the board's expertise.
