  1. A football head with the bait keeper works nice around rocks. I will cut off about 60/65% of the hook off. These are the aberdeen hook football heads. That little bit of hook shaft helps to keep the head in place.
  2. Pro-Cure has a squid oil
  3. I used this GE silicone and it worked, GE white sikicone kitchen and bathroom caulk. It is 100% silicone. The one i used, on the label, in a gold box says, 3hr shower ready, 5 year mold protection. It also says, premium waterproof silicone in a red area. Not sure why it worked but it did. I bought it to patch some spots in my shower and then used what was left to try making a mold. i did let it sit outside for a couple of days before using it. It stunk to bad to bring it to the basement, lol
  4. Forgot to add, when making molds from silicone from the hardware store, you have less then 10 minutes to add the master.
  5. POP molds are the cheapest and i find them fun to make. If you don't like the way the mold comes out, you have only wasted like .25 cents. Also you can modify POP molds very easy. POP works great for 2 part molds also. I have read that you can even inject with POP molds. I have not tried this. I don't have an injector. I'm thinking of getting a 2oz injector in the future.I have used the Alumilite high strength 3 to make 2 molds. One of the things i noticed, if making a mold from a soft plastic master, the lures come out thinner. Like if you mold a senko, it comes out about a 16th thinner. BTW - if your pouring to save money, get out now before it's to late, LOL
  6. Your right Ben, you can use 100% silicone from the hardware store to make a mold. I've only made 1 so far but it works great. Not sure of the durability yet as i've only used it a few times. Though i'm sure for the hobbiest, it it be fine. I made a mold in a small aluminum meatloaf pan, the cheap one's. I just keep the mold in the pan. I filled the pan half way with silicone, poured a little water in, mixed it up, smoothed out the top and emptied the excess water. After an hour i turned the pan upside down to drain any remaining water. 1 tip on this, make the mold outside and let it sit outside a couple of days before bringing it in the house. Very strong vinigar type smell. I made the mold 3 weeks ago and i can still smell the vinigar when i walk into the basement. Not a strong smell but still noticable
  7. I'm new to pouring so im not a mixoligist yet but if you do a google search for soft plastic color recipes, you will find ton's of recipes. I copied the recipes to a word document and printed them out.
  8. I got my supplys, i went with LW. I like spike it products so i figured stick with a product from a company i'm familar with. Nothing against anyother company just a case of being familar with there product. Super fast shipping. Ordered on a sunday night had my stuff on Wednesday. I orderd 1 gallon of medium pourasol, 11 colorants, pearl power and hi lite power. I finally had a little time to try out pouring with fresh plastic. I can already tell i will go through the first gallon quick just getting colors the way i like, lol but its really fun to me. My wife not so much, lol she calls my mold making area the sweat shop. I use POP for molds. Going to try RTV next. I bought the small kit from hobby lobby. The shape of my lures are good but i dont have the shine i want yet. Guess i need to seal the molds better. I want to thank everyone for the advice. I'm offically on the road of pouring obsession.
  9. How about Utter Shad Zombie Shad - Because it looks like pieces fell off, lol
  10. I picked up the purple, black, gold, copper, red and emerald green
  11. I just was at a Michaels and pickup up 1 small container to try. It was only a dollar so I figured why not. It worked so I'm going to Michaels later to get more.
  12. Yes I agree on the black, 4oz. I'm going to get 4oz of Black, Junebug, Watermelon and brown.
  13. I added black flake to my list. Am i good on the colorants?
  14. Here is my plan for colors. All colors are NB. I contacted Lure Works and ask them which colors won't bleed. They sent me a list of bleeding colors. There was a lot less. I was also informed they will be updating their website to specify which colors bleed. Junebug 4oz Watermelon 4oz Below will be 1oz: Black, White, Yellow, Scarlet Red, Brown, Purple, Orange, Phthalo Blue and Flo-Lime. I will be using the Flo-Lime as chartreuse. I like a greener chartreuse What do you think of my color selection? Would you replace X color for X color? Maybe I have too many base colors? The flake I'm going with is: Kelly Green - .015 Hex .035 square Dark Gold - same size as above Fire Red - .015 hex .025 square Comments on the flake?
