I am referring to the swing tail mold which takes STW 130 wire form
https://store.do-itmolds.com/Poison-Swingtail-Jigbr18-14-38-12-34-1_p_1254.html
Can this mold also accommodate just a regular hook and not make a swing tail jig using the STW wire form?

Hi
Does anyone know if the do it swingtail mold will take a regular hook? If so which one.
Thanks in advance

Wish I could chime in here and say with confidence but I'm also just starting out using D2T as top coat. The finish looks feels durable.
I will have more input for you soon as I put them to the test up north here on glacial rock infested lakes.

Hi
Looking to start air brush painting harbaits but have questions before I start investing into it.
1. What is a good starter brand or type of air brush paint to work with that is affordable and can still get job done while I learn and mess up a few times.
2. What specs on an air compressor should I look for? Will attached compressor work. See pic.
Again thanks to all in advance. Your support is appreciated!!

On this topic does dev2ton epoxy yellow after a while as top coat? Does anyone know if home version yellows or have some uv resistance?

Ummm. I have heard incredible things about people using denatured alcohol to thin epoxy clear coats. Don't add too much though, it doesn't help it at that point-- it makes it too weak.
Braden
What ratio of the alcohol to add , or consistency are we talking for the final coat so its not weakend? Let's say 2 part epoxy size of a penny for each glue before mixing them.

Ok got it. Thanks guys

What do you guys use to thin it out for top coat?

You don’t need videos just build it
There is so much that is in videos on the internet. Honestly a lot of the YouTube builders are not doing anything fancy
Just come up with an idea and go for it
I learnt more from trial and error they I ever would of the internet
Agree. I started messing around with what I had and this 20ga snare wire. Thru wire glued together with Devcon 2ton "home" version epoxy.

Hi
Wondering what brand epoxy everyone is using to glue in lips and nose, belly weight, tail eyes.
I'm currently using Devcon 2ton epoxy "home" version. I hope is strong enough. I'm just starting out making bass baits. Pike are in play.
Thanks in advance

ALL- thanks a lot, appreciate all the advice!! I will look into the videos provided and links to the parts for purchase for my way forward.
Agree that after a few pike that snare wire (seems soft) will need to be rebent to shape and as a result lose its strength.
I can't seem to find videos on building bass baits using twisted wire method, I will continue to search.

thanks I will check that

thanks guys, yes I am fishing up north where Pike and Musky are present. So definitely need to take that into consideration. Question: Do they sell SS wire in straight pieces? I cannot find it.
-
Hi,
starting out building bass baits, has anyone used SS Snare Wire (20gauge) for building wire through harness? It comes on a roll.
if not or is too soft, where is everyone buying their stainless steel wire (0.032, 20 gauge or what size)? looking to make balsa bass baits in 2 to 3 inch size.
thanks in advance

I have same issue to this thread which is why I am looking at presto pot method with stirrer to improve productivity. See my recent post for which the guys/gals on the forum are helping to identify which stirrer motor will work.
I also have issues with wasted time between shoots reheating and overall I also found the baits are different colors toward the last pour (tried heat stabilizer, heating slow and constant stirring, pouring at same temps etc etc)
Paint booth setup non-ventilated area
in Hard Baits
Posted
Hi all
Looking to start painting crankbaits indoors in my basement. I had questions on the set up since it is a non ventilated area with no windows. I have small bench near my laundry area.
For those painting in a basement or similar indoor setup, how do you set up your stations? Are you wearing a mask? If so which one. Do you have another means to push the air away from the booth etc.
Thanks in advance to all that provide input on this.
