i draw patterns of the plugs i make on 1/4 inch plywood and mark the weight,hooks,eyes ect on one side and depth of holes weight ect on the other side and i drill the eyehole and hang it up by that

one question on the scaled foil? how do you form it to the lure after you put the scale pattern in the foil without taking out the scale pattern as you press it to the bait?

looks good,.you say thay roii? do you have any belly weights in them?or are the hooks the only weight on the bottom of the lure? -
also the lat line is a stencil from lure layouts that comes with 5 others on a star shaped wheel so u can mix and match,i'm trying toget them to make some with diff. fins and gill combos for diff size baits -
i did'nt even have it topcoated yet in the picture i just got that done tonight and it looks even better really makes the chartruse green pop

Hints For Drilling Eye Sockets In Wood Blanks?

Im with markinorf on this one the forsner bit is the way to go you can mark the spots for the eyes and drill it while the woods still in square form with a bench top drill press or a hand held drill with a peice of tape wrapped around the bit for depth so there the same depth and the wood can be clamped so it won't move or get away from you and take out peices and parts of both you and your bait -

look up lipless crank baits and you should get some hits on them i've seen a few in here you want to keep most of the weight up in the head(front 1/3rd of the lure) for them to work right hope this helps

whats he use to catch them?this one hit a shad swim bait -
paddle fish as i got it to the bank -
caught this paddle fish in the ohio river 50+ inchs long and about 35/40 lbs on 8 lb test line releasted back into the river to spawn and make more fun for someone else

brook trout would be a good one for up in your neck of the woods,i just finished a brown trout glider thats not to hard to paint also the perch would be good but it looks like the bait you want to paint looks like a trout pattern,not much diff. between the cutthroat and the rainbow just a red slash on the bottom of the throat on each side

6 1/2 inch glider bait painted in brown trout colors has carved gills and mouth just don't show in the picture

really nice looking baits you posted really good peacock bass -
you said you could'nt change the hooks?why not just cut them off and then replace them with new split rings and a good name brand treble hook?

for the most part the step by step is the paint listed going down the list from one paint to the next applying as statedas for pictures there are some on here in the gallery that if you look you can see how the paint is applyed hope this helps
