Wow I would love to have that!
  2. I just poured with a ladle for the first time. Had been using a bottom pour pot,,,I'm not pouring from the bottom any more! My pours were so much better than in the past years. I am done with the bottom pour pots! I don't know why I didn't do this sooner. It all started when my pot clogged and I haven't been able to clear it. Best mistake in jig pouring I've ever made
  3. Try Barlow's, that is who I get mine from.
  4. You also might not have he swivel set right where you need it to be, slightly offset could cause your lead to come out on the swivel. It has happened to me.
  5. It is worth the money you will save as stated above. By the D/S mold.
  6. I've heard many people say this. I've never used eyes on any of the jigs I make, but, one of my buddies always paints eyes on his. I guess we all have differnent things that give us more confidence.
  7. Do you all bother with eyes on your poison tails? Do you all prefer to paint them or buy the stick ons? I've been checking out the craft sections looking for suitable eyes.
  8. I like the looks of that jighead, I think that will probably be my next mold purchase.
  9. Good points everybody. I like to cut out two or three strands to mix in with other colors instead of using the whole layer. For example one of my favorites is a black skirt with pink strands. Just leave them attached at the top until you pull them through the collar.
  10. I got to work on my 4/0 hook problems over fall break. Turns out I needed a full pot of lead. Thanks for all your alls help.
  11. Hey Tony, when you turned your pot down to 4, did that make your lead to cool to pour? I have never poured on less than 6 or 7.
  12. All of these were great responses, and I give many thanks to you all. The main problem I guess I didn't mention were the collars were not pouring. It was a great pour on the head, but the collar was not filling up. I did have my mold to the pour spout...but the pot was not very full. That was a tip I didn't think about. I'll do some experimenting this weekend and will give the results. Thanks everybody.
  13. I ran into a problem Saturday night pouring. I was pouring football jigs in the Do It Molds with the 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sizes. Everything was going fine until I got to the 1/2. I had been pouring them with the Mustad 3/0 32798, but I finally got some 4/0. The 1/2 oz can use the 4/0, that's what it says. The lead would not pour all the way for the 4/0, but works fine for the 3/0. If you were giving advice, would you all make the hook slot bigger or do I have another problem I'm not seeing. My pot is on the 8 slot when I pour, so my lead is hot enough. Thanks for any inight.
  14. Try fishingskirts.com as well.
