Well, CNC is gonna be expensive. The most cost effective will be do it’s sandcast mold. If you want something more creative or different, you could modify a mold and make your own.

I’ve been wondering about him, also. He’s a great guy and has been a huge resource for our community. I was hoping and praying nothing had happened to him health wise but it seems it has. Praying for you D2.

I believe there’s prolly a good market for them. I sure wouldn’t mind having some for my boat. I see a few pros fishing the preacher type jigs and catching fish on them. Prolly something the fish don’t get bombarded with and I know they use them up on the Tennessee River lakes ledge fishing.

I’m leaning toward poor blade choice. Those small willows just won’t work well on the in-line and the Colorado isn’t a lot better. The Indiana and French will be your go to blades. Also, I would lean toward a metal bead under the clevis as it will be a better bearing than the plastic bead.

The citicas have been money for me Sockeye Salmon fishing. When you’re fishing for Sockeye, no casting required but you need a butter smooth, strong drag. I take out the stock drag washers and replace them with carbon fiber. A good cleaning and lube and you won’t find a nicer Sockeye reel. Keep your eye out on BBC for that D model you’re searching for. They come up from time to time.

Go to Amazon and buy an automatic pot stirrer. The cheapo 10-15 dollar one and throw the foot portion away. What you’re after is the vibrator. Tie wrap it to your cup and you won’t have any more fluidizing issue. Cheap and easy.

New one on me too. Hopefully you can get it worked out with the plastic manufacturer and get the product replaced. I’m guessing you have used their plastic in the past with good success?

2 minutes on 4 inch or less. Big swimbaits would take more time.

I’ve taken all the thumb screws out of my molds and use 5 or 6 inch C clamps. Sometimes 4 inch depending on how many molds I shoot and haven’t had any troubles with flashing. The thumb screws or even the knob screws are too tedious for me.

This came off a recipe list and I haven’t tried it but thought I would pass it along. It’s in 8 oz. Plastisol.
Red Bug
40 drops red shad , .035 green 1/4 tsp, .060 black 1/4 tsp, 1/8 tsp.015 red

This issue has came up before with a mold that has that same sprue configuration. IIRC it’s a mold from Europe? Not sure if you removed it whether it would rectify this issue and would sure depend on the laminar flow of the work. You could introduce more issue if done incorrectly. I would prolly just live with it. Very minor.

I just imagine it’s how the sprue is built with the constriction causing it. That said, when you cut the sprue off your bait it would be barely noticeable. Shoot it and go fishing. nice looking bait.

I fish a lot of Gamakatsu 4/0 and 5/0 Octopus hooks in the summers. This has always been a super hook but last year I had a batch that the hook points turned easily. I was really disappointed in those hooks. I could just touch the bottom with those and it was dull. I had to check them often and change leaders way more often than usual.

The most environmentally friendly? Not sure. All the crap that goes into our landfills, it’s prolly not gonna make that much of a difference if you just put it in your regular trash pickup.

Hope the heat stabilizer works out for you. I don’t plan on letting things sit that long again. I just won’t buy that much at a time in the future. Couple gallons at a time prolly.

Recently, I experienced the same thing with some Calhoun’s. I had it for a long time though. Its shelf life was about the 5 year mark from what I experienced. This year it was seven years old and unusable. It wouldn’t cure and stayed tacky. Yellowed very quickly too. Threw it away and ordered new Baitplastics.

How many half tabs are you using?

It’s going to be hard to beat the Basstackle injectors. One thing I noticed tonight cleaning up after a pouring session is how easy they disassemble. You will have take them apart because plastic gets behind the plunger in the barrel of the injector and will make your injector sticky in operation. The top of the Basstackle is threaded and makes disassembly quick and easy.

For quantity purchase, Worth, Lakeland, or Hagens. Personally I use worth and like their blades. For 5 or 10 the usual retail resellers work better.
