  1. Nice video and explains much about the company and product. Thank for pantsing it.
  2. I shot some of the 242 tonight and I could tell it had less odor but other than that couldn’t tell much difference from their 212. Took multiple reheats well in the micro and was easy to work with using our small hand molds. Do these guys (Baitplastics) repackage or mix their own plastisol? Anybody know? I didn’t like their crawfish scent too much though.
  3. I tried some of the 212 this evening and really liked it. Worked very well for me. 2 minute demold worked well and didn’t set up too quick. Good working times.
  4. Wonder if they heated it and twisted the eye around?
  5. I gotcha. Hope you find what you need.
  6. The shank isn’t as long but Owner has a 30degree flat eye jig hook. 5103 is the number. Also Mustad 38108.
  7. Thanks guys for the info. I ended up ordering a gallon of each and will be the first time to use the Baitplastics for me. I know Basskat has recommended it to me but was trying to use up what Calhoun’s I had. This year I can tell you plastisol does have a shelf life. At least the Calhoun’s. Five years is about all you can keep it. What I had was 7 years old now and what I poured up last year out of it the baits aren’t the best. Little bit sticky now on close inspection. Tried to pour up some a couple days ago and it’s unusable now. So thanks again fellas and looking forward to using Baitplastics. I like the free shipping too.
  8. That 2190 fits the do it swm-3-a mold. Do you need that same bend which is specific to that mold or can you use something else like a 30 degree jig hook?
  9. Have a question about Bait Plastics medium. They have two formulations. There is a 212 medium and a 242 medium/low odor/ultra clear. I like the idea of low odor and ultra clear but the 242 may not be the best plastic. Has anyone used them both and what did you think of the 242? Will it take multiple reheats in the micro and still stay clear?
  10. I see how you get the flair. You make a very nice bait. We aren’t trying to take anything away from your skill, that’s for sure. It’s good that your friends with Mr. Z Man.
  11. Sand? No kidding. How did you figure that out?
  12. It takes very little hilite to produce the effects like this Hard Candy I’m seeing. You are prolly using too much. In 4 oz of plastic you will only want to use about the size of a matchstick. What is called a smidge in measuring spoons. A little goes a long way.
  13. Hmm. Did a search on their website and no results from the number you gave. Got a link?
  14. I think most get around Z man’s patent by using split rings. I understand they’ve written lots of cease and desist letters and are aggressive about defending their patent. If you’re going to sell, be very careful. That said, I’ve never seen Zman patent lawyers at the boat ramp. Just sayin.
  15. Hmm. You selling or using yourself.
  16. Take a look at flush cutters made by Xuron. Amazon search will show some different ones and if you want to see all their cutters Xuron has its own web page. A word of caution on any flush cutter or sprue cutter you get. It’s a single purpose tool meant to cut your sprue flush and save you time and make a nice clean cut without adding steps like filing and sanding. Do not use them to cut off any extra lead that flashed around the hook eye by grabbing the hook just below the eye and twisting. Use some other cutter for that. Touching the hard steel of that hook with your cutters will mess them up over time. Treat them nice and they’ll last a long time.
  17. A presto pot is a tall pot with a built in heating element in the bottom with a thermostat. The sides aren’t heated. The only problem Would probably be the stability of it.
  18. I haven’t done it but have seen a post where someone mixed Elmer’s and water into dry sand to make a workable mix and put it in a high sided hot plate. Sunk his cups in it leaving about a 1/2 inch sand as insulator under the cups. Let sit for several days so the water will evaporate then turn it on with the cups in place to set the sand. They said it works nice and the Elmer’s keeps the sand in place and holds heat well.
  19. I have used worm oil to bag but for the most part add the scented oil because that’s what I like. Primarily the garlic and crawfish. I saw LPO has worm scented oil and thought I would try it too.
  20. Some of these scents don’t work well in bags. I have had them just turn rank and rancid over time and made the baits unusable and discolored. That said, I do like adding scent when bagging so have searched out and tried some different stuff. Disclaimer is there’s a bunch I haven’t tried but the oils work the best. LPO has some oils here https://www.lurepartsonline.com/6628-LureCraft-Lunker-Scents_2?quantity=1&custcol_beads_eyes_paint_color=1482 spike it has these also. https://www.ispikeit.com/category/70/scents
  21. I have tried to remelt moisture laden baits with salt and it turned into a great big mess. I would wait until a sunny hot day and lay those baits out in the sun. Let the sun, heat, and uv take care of the moisture and then you’ll have better luck I believe.
  22. What Mark said. Pool noodle works great and is pretty cheap. I make up a lot of salmon leaders before the season and store them this way. You can also make two lines about 2 inches apart along the length of the section of noodle you want to cut and then score each place you want to put a leader except for the part between the lines. This will tend to hold your leader material a bit better but leave a small portion visible. I just use a sharp knife and roll the noodle while holding the knife stationary. Start at one line and roll to the next leaving between your lines uncut.
  23. I use a lot of Siwash hooks in Alaska and haven’t noticed any difference in their use. Alaska regs require single hooks at certain times.
  24. That’s a cool technique and the baits look amazing. Pretty time consuming, though.
  25. I think you may be able to just pick up a little hilite or Pearl powder on a hair brush and apply it directly to your cavity. I haven’t tried using it that way but have brushed it on plastic swimbaits. If you have some hilite powder or Pearl powder it will take a couple minutes to find out. Let us know how it works.
