  1. This was mine going in but I purchased a hood from a HVAC sheet metal shop he had that a customer didn't take. Ducted it to a squirrel cage Someone gave me. Works good, lasts a long time.
  2. 360 is pretty hot. The claws will dent at 360 but, for me, I really don't care and the fish don't either. The claw is pretty thin before it tapers back out and it could be hardening in the thin part, I guess. I've never had much trouble with this mold but you are shooting it differently with the tin can lam. Thinking about this a little more, that part of the claw is thin enough, you may need to just laminate the body and let the claw fill with the second color. What some folks do also is just do a claw color. You know, shoot the bait with the color you want the claw to be and then cut the claws off, put them back in the mold, then shoot the main color. It makes a nice bait too. Here's a pic of one I've done. Bob makes a claw mold for it too.
  3. Make sure you put the first half in the side of the mold without the vents. Also cut the nose back where the new plastic has an unimpeded entry into your mold. I lam this bait but with a twin injector and it laminates well. The two cavity is actually better for laminating with the twin injector because the sprue is much smaller and not as much waste.
  4. No problem. If you needed several thou. There's probably better options but for some time to time, probably not.
  5. More than I really need to know about flux and fluxing compounds but this should expand a bit of gray Tacklecrafting matter, if we can take a few suggestions from our bullet casting brothers. http://www.lasc.us/FryxellFluxing.htm
  6. Go to you tube and search Smalljaw. Our friend and fellow forum member and Super Tacklecrafter has taken the time to put together a great instructional series of videos on hand tying all manner of jigs using many different materials. I highly recommend watching his whole series to get you started and give you ideas on patterns and materials you can use. Also, just a quick public and sincere thanks to Smalljaw for taking the time and effort to do this. Also for sharing his knowledge and experience so selflessly with our community. Thanks DD!

    I Fish :

I fish first and foremost to be out in Gods creation enjoying every piece of it from the sunrise to the Eagles, other birds and wildlife, trees, vistas, and just the lake and water itself. I find beauty in all of it. The fishing part gives me a challenge and a reason to be there.
  8. So, your getting partial pours. Heat your mold up first by laying it on your pot while your lead is heating. You can take a propane torch to it, also. I do this a lot. Increase your pure lead content. Couple of other things but give those a try first.
  9. Sure a lot of ways to skin this cat. Where there's a will, there is probably going to be a way if you have a space to work and a way to vent outside. Sounds like you have a nice plan and good luck.
  10. A good many of us don't sell so we don't have a tax number. As WD does, I shop around and more times than not, Jon Barlow gets my hook business.
  11. A lot of different production methods and a lot of ways to handle sprues. Some guys leave all their sprues on and hang baits to cure for a couple weeks. Depending on their production volume, this makes for a bunch of sprues on hand.
  12. Bobs tackle shack has it. It's still produced. BTS.com, I think.
  13. The link provided said the auction ended like you bought the one he had. Also a Google search didn't turn up any reputable supplier, as far as I could tell. Thanks for the offer, wax works great for me.
  14. That's great, but it looks to be a product not readily available anymore. Your buying old stock of eBay. Also, every time you heat and reflux you get more dross. Is this product really a solution or a rabbit?
  15. I buy from Rattrap bait company. Bubba Robinson is the proprietor. 863/967-2148. Ask Bubba to email you his tab list. His email is rattrap2@verizon.net. I think his minimum is 100 tabs. No website or pics of product though. Good prices and friendly service.
  16. I just use Gulf parrafin wax as it is readily available in your favorite grocery store. Works good and your not paying for a candle. You can find it in the canning section.
  17. Frank, those are eggcellent! :-)
  18. A friend of mine uses a lot of Strike King elaztech in a Z Too which is a 4.5" jerkbait. Out of curiosity, I looked for them in Bass Pro a couple weeks ago and didn't find any elaztech. Maybe they just aren't carrying this stuff anymore.
  19. I heard no more elaztech. No verifiable info though. These bait companies and patents and rights and agreements we know nothing about and don't have the time or interests to keep up with. Maybe someone with the real skinny will post it up. How about elaztech recipe? Now that would be awesome! :-)
  20. Any chance you have another handle?
  21. Very nice Mooki. I remember now you having a problem finding lead in Sweden. I see now why you need precise control.
  22. Looks like a jam up job with a PID and all. Powder is the one thing I've found that's not too sensitive though.
  23. Yes, I'm thinking you have to remove a whole lot more material. That in itself is more difficult. Not something that can't be done, just kicks the difficulty up a notch.
