I know where your coming from Patrick. From the start, I told myself I wasn't going to sell my baits. I love tacklecrafting, but like you, I already have a full plate with a demanding job that takes me away from home, wife and family and other various obligations. No time for selling and production. I may make a few baits for friends or help someone in our community with a sample or something but that's all I have time for now. When I retire, might sell a few then just to have something to play with. JMO.

LOL! I've been wondering why my Chartreuse seems to always wash out or wash in might be a better analogy. I'm learning all the time.

Rubbermaid makes a nice little container that will hold a pound and a half of powder probably. This container has a screw top with a smaller pour spout/ pop top that is real nice and convenient for pouring right into a fluid bed. I use these when I get powder in plastic bags.

I have that mold and yes I agree the pin through the hook eye is a PIA. That said, for me this is a great pouring little mold. It's vented well and without preheating it pours perfectly. I don't pour the small sizes though and that's probably the ones you have trouble with. I only use the 5/16 and 3/8 cavities so far.

I was wondering the same thing. How does he get the different ratio?

Maybe I didn't understand how to navigate their website but it looked like a very limited selection of hooks to me. I searched Eagle Claw and came up goose eggs.

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to this. Here's a pic of what I have. I also inspected about twenty jigs I made in advance and haven't put together yet and there is no residue after I baked these to set the powder paint.Apdriver,
What brand of foil tape do you use? Do you get it from Home Depot? Not sure why mine is leaving such a sticky residue.
Thanks

Yes it does where did you get the copper hi lites at? I found some copper pearl powder but haven't seen any copper hi lites. Thanks
I bet it's that copper Pearl powder Snowman. I have some hi lites and I also have that copper Pearl. I'm on the road and not where I can put my hands on it or I would let you know and give you the recipe. I'll be home tomorrow if you would like to have it and can wait that long.

I gotcha, sorry.

RS, you might want to move this over to the plastics forum. Just a guess but it looks like cinnamon with salt, kelly green, copper, and black .040 or so glitter. Just a guess though.

McMaster Carr but be careful ordering the long stock as the freight on it is expensive. Someone told me if you order it 4' in lengths and smaller it's cheaper but I have no personal experience with it. I ordered a 6 foot piece of it and made a whole bunch way back when. It's the teflon rod.

+100, Smalljaw. Mr. Barlow is a great resource for us tacklecrafters. Thank you Mr. Barlow for coming here and helping answer some of our questions. Of course, your store is important to us also, and has been for as long as I can remember.

I think they look good. Love the color combinations and that your catching fish with your own creations. Really cool.

Sounds like you need to top that mold off with hot plastic. See, as the plastic in the body of that swim bait cools, it contracts and draws plastic from the runner. If it runs out of plastic it will draw air. So as it draws, pour more plastic in the sprue. See if that helps.

Eakins is black, brown black Barbwire, and 4 strands Chartreuse. 40 to 60 strands depending on how full you want it.

Very nice indeed!

How long do you want your Swimbait?
Baitjunkys just came out with a nice 4", if that's the size your looking for. He hasn't got pics in the store yet, but they are in this thread. Nice looking bait similar to the keitech but not just like it. I think he's calling it the super swimmer. Good price too. Four cavity, top inject for 160.00 but on sale now for 20% off, I believe. Here's a link to pics.

I just keep medium and add a little softener if I want it softer. That said, medium with a little softener works good in a finesse worm.

Buy the large injector. I bought the small twin first then bought Baitjunky Prolam 7 oz. cause I ran out of injector.

I bet since you are new to pouring and you are pouring directly from your pot, you are a bit tentative. I agree with Cadman in that it looks like you are pouring too slow and the lead is cooling and blocking a complete pour. Smalljaw once said, try to dump the lead in your mold in reference to pouring faster. It does take practice to pour hot molten lead in a small sprue quickly. Looks like the problem though. Flux and flux often. Read safety tips re fluxing. Good luck.

Yeah, you'll have to shoot it cooler. I'll tell you one thing though. If you only shoot it for yourself, the bass could give two hoots about the dents!
