  1. I know where your coming from Patrick. From the start, I told myself I wasn't going to sell my baits. I love tacklecrafting, but like you, I already have a full plate with a demanding job that takes me away from home, wife and family and other various obligations. No time for selling and production. I may make a few baits for friends or help someone in our community with a sample or something but that's all I have time for now. When I retire, might sell a few then just to have something to play with. JMO.

  2. Rubbermaid makes a nice little container that will hold a pound and a half of powder probably. This container has a screw top with a smaller pour spout/ pop top that is real nice and convenient for pouring right into a fluid bed. I use these when I get powder in plastic bags.

  3. Apdriver,

What brand of foil tape do you use?  Do you get it from Home Depot?  Not sure why mine is leaving such a sticky residue.

    Thanks

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to this. Here's a pic of what I have. I also inspected about twenty jigs I made in advance and haven't put together yet and there is no residue after I baked these to set the powder paint.image.jpgimage.jpg

  4. Yes it does where did you get the copper hi lites at? I found some copper pearl powder but haven't seen any copper hi lites. Thanks

I bet it's that copper Pearl powder Snowman. I have some hi lites and I also have that copper Pearl. I'm on the road and not where I can put my hands on it or I would let you know and give you the recipe. I'll be home tomorrow if you would like to have it and can wait that long.

  5. McMaster Carr but be careful ordering the long stock as the freight on it is expensive. Someone told me if you order it 4' in lengths and smaller it's cheaper but I have no personal experience with it. I ordered a 6 foot piece of it and made a whole bunch way back when. It's the teflon rod.

  6. Sounds like you need to top that mold off with hot plastic. See, as the plastic in the body of that swim bait cools, it contracts and draws plastic from the runner. If it runs out of plastic it will draw air. So as it draws, pour more plastic in the sprue. See if that helps.

  7. How long do you want your Swimbait?

Baitjunkys just came out with a nice 4", if that's the size your looking for. He hasn't got pics in the store yet, but they are in this thread. Nice looking bait similar to the keitech but not just like it. I think he's calling it the super swimmer. Good price too. Four cavity, top inject for 160.00 but on sale now for 20% off, I believe. Here's a link to pics.

  8. I bet since you are new to pouring and you are pouring directly from your pot, you are a bit tentative. I agree with Cadman in that it looks like you are pouring too slow and the lead is cooling and blocking a complete pour. Smalljaw once said, try to dump the lead in your mold in reference to pouring faster. It does take practice to pour hot molten lead in a small sprue quickly. Looks like the problem though. Flux and flux often. Read safety tips re fluxing. Good luck.
