  1. +100, Smalljaw. Mr. Barlow is a great resource for us tacklecrafters. Thank you Mr. Barlow for coming here and helping answer some of our questions. Of course, your store is important to us also, and has been for as long as I can remember.
  2. I think they look good. Love the color combinations and that your catching fish with your own creations. Really cool.
  3. Sounds like you need to top that mold off with hot plastic. See, as the plastic in the body of that swim bait cools, it contracts and draws plastic from the runner. If it runs out of plastic it will draw air. So as it draws, pour more plastic in the sprue. See if that helps.
  4. Eakins is black, brown black Barbwire, and 4 strands Chartreuse. 40 to 60 strands depending on how full you want it.

  8. Baitjunkys just came out with a nice 4", if that's the size your looking for. He hasn't got pics in the store yet, but they are in this thread. Nice looking bait similar to the keitech but not just like it. I think he's calling it the super swimmer. Good price too. Four cavity, top inject for 160.00 but on sale now for 20% off, I believe. Here's a link to pics. http://baitjunkys.com/forum/index.php/topic,3417.msg35224/topicseen.html#msg35224
  9. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. 50 in this case:-)
  10. I just keep medium and add a little softener if I want it softer. That said, medium with a little softener works good in a finesse worm.
  11. How long do you want your Swimbait?
  12. Buy the large injector. I bought the small twin first then bought Baitjunky Prolam 7 oz. cause I ran out of injector.
  13. I bet since you are new to pouring and you are pouring directly from your pot, you are a bit tentative. I agree with Cadman in that it looks like you are pouring too slow and the lead is cooling and blocking a complete pour. Smalljaw once said, try to dump the lead in your mold in reference to pouring faster. It does take practice to pour hot molten lead in a small sprue quickly. Looks like the problem though. Flux and flux often. Read safety tips re fluxing. Good luck.
  14. I used the twin injector and they just turned out that way. I did have do its HD additive in it and a lot of color. If memory serves me well, I shot it pretty hot. 320 or so. The fish liked them too. That's the best yardstick of success, IMO.
  15. High Rock just sent me an email so I guess he's still in operation.
  16. Why don't you call Bubba Robinson at Rat Trap bait company. He's the owner and proprietor. Usually you have to order 100 tabs of a single color. He has beautiful silicone skirts. If you call him and ask him to email his inventory list he will be happy to do that. Unfortunately no pictures and minimum order Qty. But you can't beat the price. His number is 863-967-2148.
  17. I dunno but Barlows says this. The SWM Jig is a swimming type jig whose wobble action is especially successful in attracting fish. Style 2190B hooks have been specially developed for use with SWM jigs made with DO-IT® Molds. These jigs may be painted and fished without dressing or can be tipped with live bait for an even more effective lure. Cast, troll, or jig vertically with this versatile bait jig. Stock Number Model Number # of Cavities Cavity Size Hook Size 473242 SWM-3-A 3 1/8 1/4 3/8 4 1/0 2/0 Item #: Specially developed would concern me a bit. Also they usually list alternatives and there is none listed. If you don't have any luck with the members here, call Mr. Barlows and they will help you find an alternative if there is one. Wished I could have been more assistant.
  18. Within the last few days, I have read about polishing the sandcast molds. I have never done this and find it interesting. Will the guys that do this share their methods for polishing your molds? With the smaller cavities and limited work space inside that cavity, I see this as a bit challenging. Thanks.....Bill...
  19. Here's one I did awhile back in a 702 using the alternating injection method and a stick that laminate that made a little swirl where the two colors met while just producing a laminate. I liked how this stick came out.
  20. I think it would certainly help and moisture contamination is probably the culprit. I have a bunch of scraps under my bench that, over time, have become moisture laden. This is what they act like when I remelt some. Leonard degasses his plastic and gets quite a bit of moisture out of it.
