  1. We target walleye through the ice in Michigan.. Swedish pimples. Little Cleo's.. Do jiggers all catch there fair share jigged vertically up to 30 ft. Like Rayburn Guy said, nothin better than watching your spoon & fish do the dance on a good sonar screen..
  2. Thanks Bob. I'm assuming you put the glow on over the base coat then clearcoat..

    Glow

Hello. I was wondering what some guys/ gals use to add glow to their lures. On my jigheads, I simply powder coat them where i want it to glow. Not sure what people are doing on cranks, spoons.. All input appreciated.
  4. Yeah, I'm a scientist at heart, always tinkering with stuff.. But believe me, when I find the perfect combo of prime/paint/clear with these little spoons, believe me in sticken with it.. Thanks..
  5. Hi Ben. I went to the local auto paint supplier. He recommended an etching primer follwed by a sealer..Then business as usual. Createx told me that their auto air line is compatable with just about any primer. Not trying to beat a dead horse, just been doing some experimenting. I find it interesting that most discussions tend to focus on clearcoat and clear coat issues, however, without a good foundation ( prep, prime, base) any/all clearcoats will fail.. Thanks guys for the input.
  6. Geez.. Sounds pretty serious for a little ole fishing spoon. I thought DTM was an acronym for Direct To Metal primer. Must be something more user friendly/ practical. I did send createx another e- mail, waiting for response. What type of primer are you using??
  7. I have contacted createx and was told to scuff the spoon, prime with DTM primer then use auto air sealer, I'm just not sure what type/brand of DTM primer they are referring to.
  8. Hello. What is the recommended primer for metal spoons? I am currently using createx water based paints clearing with either DN or automotive clear. Any/all advise appreciated.
  9. Storing lures in a covered boat might be the culprit. The lure will be exposed to continual temperature and humidity changes throughout the fishing season and can cause base & clear coats to do strange things.
  10. Good point. I have noticed that extended curing time definitely helps.. A 30 min bake at 150 degrees really locks things up.. Might just be a patience thing.. Thxs..
  11. Hi. I have some concerns with some of the edges on my spoon finishes after clearcoating.. The main surface is rock solid.. The edges not so solid.. Is this a prep work issue?? I have been Lightly scuffing spoon surface / sanding edges with 500 grit sand paper..and knocking off any burs from the stamping process.. I thought the issue was completely resolved when I switched from 2 part epoxy to auto clear.. But a few of my spoons are still a little soft on the edges. All feedback much appreciated..
  12. Good point. I support the local businesses whenever possible.. After looking on line.. The locals are actually quite competitive. Thanks everyone for the feedback..
  13. Yeap. Thanks guys.. I like my local supplier, but they seem a little pricey on some colors, that's why I'm doin a little shopping..
  14. Thanks Rayburn. I was on their site yesterday and it looked good also.. I will do a little more research before making an order..
  15. Thanks Brent. I will check them out..
