Mark,
I am going to check around and see what if any is out there. I am going into an art gallery in April and I think those props with also glass eyes is not an option for the "higher end" customer that will buy from there. Thanks again for the help.

Mark and sonoman thanks for the help. I contacted Kermett Adams and he gets them from the source I found. I was hoping to find a bulk supplier to cut costs. Mark I use the cup washers you were referring to already. The props I am speaking of are a little different. They are on www.walleyesupply.com. Thanks again guys for the help.

Sonoman,
Yeah I figured he would be able to tell me, but I e-mailed him several months ago so I will have to try him again. Thanks

Mark I have never even considered using that, but now that makes me want to try some. Getting the whole thing balanced without sealing or painting would be a HUGE advantage! Thanks.

Hey Mark this is where I get mine now but its the props that have I guess you would call it a collar attached to the prop. Do you understand what I am talking about. Don't know if that's the correct description. And thanks for the quick answer.

Gentleman,
I need a little help with finding the old school propellers such as are found on the old Heddon lures. I have searched but have only found one source which includes the eye screws, which gets pricey. I am trying to up my game on prop baits since I am going into an art gallery in April so these would look much better than the ones I am used to getting. Any help?
Thanks Mike

I mostly use Cedar but have used basswood since there is so much around my in laws house since they are woodcarvers. It works great if you want to do some personal carving on your lures. Like Travis I do suggest sealing with a wood hardener then sanding the raised grain off. This really isn't and option. I have learned you are not going to learn without trying, and yes have successes and failures but that is what makes it so much fun.

RayburnGuy,
Great tip on using super glue on balsa! I have pretty much tossed balsa out of my supplies because of the grain and I just don't like how it feels. With the super glue I could see where that would work great. Thanks again.

RayburnGuy couldn't have said it any better. I have used both the hoop and clamping the netting and by far the clamping works best for me. If I want to paint just one area with a different color or achieve a different look I just use stencils I have made. Like Rayburn I only make a few at a time so each one is going to be different anyway and the time to do the netting doesn't really matter. I have left netting on for quite some time and if I dry each coat in between I don't have a problem, but if I don't dry in between well..... Experience no. 3,287!
For me the scale pattern is pretty distinct before the clear goes on and is only enhanced by the clear so these lures don't look like they have had enough coats on them, but that is hard to do if you are holding the netting by hand. I think if you clamp the netting and try again you will get the desire you want. Then if not then experience no. 3, 288! Hope that helped.

Mine is definitely Firetiger. The combination of orange and yellow gets me everytime.

Hey Ken 6645,
Great tip thanks for that one. Any time I can save some money I'm all over it. You know "CHEAP"!

Good morning all,
I was just reading an article about embossing fish eyes using embossing ink and then powders and then heating them. Has anyone tried this? Can't seem to find much online and was wondering if it can be used for other areas of lure, like scales or gills. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi my name is Mike Bruner. I am 51 and 2 years ago my daughters gave me for Fathers day a book on making your own wood lures since they knew how much I enjoyed fishing. Well while I was on vacation I read the book through 3 times and the bug started. I enjoy wood working so it was a natural fit. I never intended it to be a business (still don't) but after starting many people asked me to make one for them. I started Trinity Lure Company after that only to put a name on the lure and a distinguishing name on where they got it. The name came from me being a Christian for many, many years and the thankfulness of Christ coming to this earth to save me, so the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) was the natural choice. I figured the lures would give me an opportunity to share the gospel to someone.
I have sold a few and given away more so getting rich on this was never my intentions. The gentlemen in my church that I have given some to have thoroughly enjoyed having them and don't ever intend to use them. My goal at the beginning was to first make a piece of art that could also be used for fishing.
I want to say that everything that I have learned has come from you guys that have been so supportive with a newbie to learn his hobby. You have given and given and I want to be like that so I may help someone someday enjoy this incredible hobby.
God bless you all,
Michael Bruner

Hi guys hope this hasn't been answered before but was wondering the advantage of GST compared to Etrex. I see you can dip it (which would be awesome) but also seen guys talking about a 2-3 week cure time. I have been using Etrex for 2 years and really like the stuff once I clued in how it works. So I am wondering why so many are switching to GST? Am I missing something? Thanks for the help and all the info on here.

AMac it is supposed to be submerged and Mark I have no problem myself looking like an idiot on my own, I just don't want help from others!

Bob thank you for your suggestion. I will definitely do this and see what happens. I appreciate the help here on this forum. Other forums I have been on seem to relish in the idea of making you look like an idiot.

I am a newbie at lure making and I made up this lure for a few friends that wanted something for trout. Everything seemed to work right. The thru wire construction worked but when I tested the lure I couldn't get the spinner to spin on the wire. It does spin just fine out of the water. It doesn't seem like there is too much play on the wire where the spinner is so I am stumped. Any help for a newbie from you experts? Please! I am really liking this forum and all the unselfish help you guys are giving.

Really nice looking bait! That would definitely catch some here in the California lakes.
