  1. Yeah it' s pretty thick stuff to begin with, thins a little after part b is added. But I can imagine getting a bad batch. I used to buy it direct and had great results with it. I used a vibrating toothbrush head to vibrate bubbles out of it. I'd do half the mold, then spray release over that, then do the other half with the second pour while the part was still in it.
  2. 3m organic vapor cartridges with HEPA pre filters. I use that for pouring and painting, even if outside. Note on putting it in plastic bag.. don't do that immediately. When we breathe through them there is a good bit of moisture buildup. Before storing it in a sealed bag, leave somewhere the moisture can dry out of the mask and the cartridges. If not, there is a mold that can grow on it/ in it that's nearly as bad to breath as the chemicals we're using. You don't want it in your lungs. So yes, store them sealed but give them a couple hours where they can dry out before storing.
  3. Looks great!!! ... looks as good as the $180 brands.
  4. Thanks DV... that's good information and makes sense. an oil would not mix with the water they are in and would not disperse. I may still add a little oil to the baits since mine are leaving a plastisol residue in the package and the oil residue would look better with regards to packaging.
  5. Anyone have any thoughts on how effective these scent oils are that are sold by MF and Lureworks or anyone else? The foto has all their oil scents. Has anyone ever seen fish not eat a certain bait because one of these scents. I know a major worm manufacture and he uses a mix of grape and anise.. funny everyone thinks it's something special.. i'm not sure where he gets his from but I know the mix of smells. I caught fish just fine last weekend with no scent at all and my lures smell quite plastic like. I'm sure ya'll know that smell. I'd only like to add some to the pack to reduce the plastic smell as my plastic appears to be a 'dry' plastic and soaking it up.
  6. MF sells a Worm Lubricant... is this some sort of plasticizer in a carrier oil? any one know. And I've heard that a lot of bait companies are using mineral oil to stretch 'scent oils'. Might be going off the deep end but has anyone tried using 'soy' oil .. . or a mix of soy and mineral oil. In small batches soy is cheaper than the mineral oils and the worm oils. I'm setting up a test in my garage 5-6 bags with different oil solutions to see how stable they are. I've had a jug of menhaden oil on the shelf for 10 years in a hot garage (Tx hot) and its still good, not rancid or anything.
  7. I do not know, It's what my injector company is using. Well, on the other hand that means it will soak up some scent.
  8. I tried lubing up my little thingy.. oh wait, that sounds much too personal. ;-) I put worm oil on my soft baits and they soaked it in... I was hoping to make them shiny to show off the flake better, but they help it for about 24 hours then it all soaked in and left it dull again. My mold is polished ... not super polished but close. It's a commercial production mold. Remember some one mentioned mineral oil in a thread to cut the scent / stretch it... will that reduce the soakin effect?
  9. I'll give away something I've tried cause I know there is no way the commercial injectors will use it in their machines.. besides it settles pretty hard. reflective coating powder.. the stuff the use for coating centerline strips. can't remember where I found it .. but it was pretty cool.. I'm pretty sure its glass or silica (which is what glass is anyway).. give that a try. It will make baits heavier.. but like I said, it settles
  10. they'll need some sort of 3d file.. Solidworks or AutoCad 3d or something similar. I wonder if you have a friend that has autocad 3d, perhaps he can import your file and spit something out they can use.
  11. Great to see this furthered. I'd love to start working on something that could be made commercially available. It's been a dream of mine as well. Props to the guy for sharing.
  12. Thanks for the replies. right now looking for a hook keeper, not a mold in. 0.02 wire, Roughly half inch long including the eye...
  13. Any leads on a list of companies that will custom build a keeper / list of Wire bending manufactures that make spring keepers. I don't want to do these myself but need to have someone do them for me in quantity.
  14. MPact Poly has great Horizontal Bags contact Steve steve@inpactpoly.com
  15. Thanks McLuvin.. I just havn't found the blue anywhere. MF (pouryourownworms.com) as an 'Opal' that is nice but not high enough temp resistance. Almost have to let the plastisol cool to just above solid temp and shoot fast. That and my injector doesn't have the Opal.. but the Gold (which I think is the green you are showing the roll for) has some similar qualities. Mirrolure is shooting some baits with what looks like an opal. I haven't seen good 'in lure' examples of the purple, there is also a turquoise floating around. They look sharp.. and my injector won't send me samples so I can make a recipe from scratch.. They also won't shoot the larger near 1/4in size. Although I love the stuff. Oh well, fish don't seem to care LOL.
  16. And this is what my injector calls blue mylar.. it's a transparent that reflects a med blue. this is in a transparent pink bait. would love to see some other colors like the green or the gold if anyone has used it. I think they all shift a little after it hits the heat.
  17. I'm interested in glitter. Those look sharp the way you are doing them but I can't get my injector to run them here in the states. Here is a pic of what my injector calls gold mylar.. it reflect a green with hues of gold and sometimes blue as seen. The material is actually transparent pink. ie if you hold it up to the light it's a light pink. In this photo its' in with silver.. so everything else is mylar.
  18. this is what i'm doing. works fine for the day.
  19. Lure craft also has some glitters that others don't.. laser glitters. They are going to sell out their current stock of it and not have anymore so if you want some better get it. Unfortunately, the larger injectors don't seem to shoot the stuff. But whatever. MF manufacturing has plastisol, hardener, softerner, and glitter. I'm using the phthalate free formula from lure craft myself and they also have everything.
  20. for example, here is one from lure craft they refer to as sparkle purple which is also named Disco Purple. What does this look like after injection. I Know there are Gold / green mylars, blue, and turquoise, maybe some others.
  21. Hey guys, it seems there are only a hand full on 'high temp' mylars. Anyone have any pics of mylars that are already injected in baits and the resulting colors and what the name of the mylar was that was used in it. I think some brands call these 'disco' or something similar but it seems hard to connect to what the color is after it's injected. I'd love it if we could build a thread of all the different mylar colors and what they're names are including pics.
  22. I agree with this.. I'm using spike it Looks great transparent as well.
