I am new to painting lures also. I have been using an airbrush on model cars for a while. I don’t have that problem with Createx. There could be a few reasons this could happen. I reduce my paint 3 parts paint one part reducer. You want the thickness of milk. Also how close are you spraying to the lure? Do you have a water trap on the compressor? Water could be in your airline from the compressor. What are you using for primmer? The paint could be having a reaction to it. I just lay down mist coats of transparent white for my base coat. You don’t want to spray this paint on thick. You also need to heat set Createx paint. I hope others will chime in for more advice.

Thank you for the welcome. I have used this foil on my model cars, I have never painted over it, but I have shot urethane clear on it. So I think it will ok to use. It comes in different colors. Also where is a good place to buy blanks? I have found some from Dakota Lakes website. Just trying to see what else is out there. I have herd the ones from Jann’s aren’t that good. I want to start with the plastic blanks before I attempt wooden crank baits.

I’m new to Tackle Underground, I’m glad I stumbled on this web site. I want to start painting my own crank baits. Had one question, have any of you guys tried using Bare Metal Foil to foil them? Thank you in advance for any advice.
