  1. Mark thanks for this post! I've been trying several methods that haven't done what I want, but I will try some a version of your method and see how it goes. Good info!
  2. As far as circuit board goes, mist people think it is stronger than lexan, which it is on paper (data sheet) in many ways, but in practical fishing application I prefer lexan because it just seems to hold up better in general for myself. Also I like the fact that because lexan is clear it does not add to the "profile" of the bait. But as a hobby lure maker I find that it all depends on your desired outcome. For a lip source, I like CB Custom Lips. They do all work custom so you can get any size or material, and they are priced about the same as other sites that don't offer custom designs. Here's the website: www.cb-custom-lips.com Please repost on your progress... I am very interested in walleye crankbaits myself!
  3. Hey thanks a lot guys - I found that video and it had some real useful info.
  4. Hello all, I have never tried before, but am curious about making my own injected plastic lips for my crankbaits just for fun. Any ideas/advice/warnings? I am particularly interested in which plastics/resins I should use for a tough, clear lip. Thanks!
  5. Sure thing, bassguy! This is a great website, I'm glad I found it.
  6. You might try CB Custom Crankbait Lips. I always use them for my square bill lips, and any custom designs I have. They use a CNC mill so each cut is exactly the same, and they can do lexan, circuit board, just about anything. They didn't charge any setup fee, and I paid something like $0.30 - $0.40 per lip. If you want pre-molded deep diving lips you may have to go with a plastic company like the one mentioned above. Here's the link to CB: http://cbcustomlips.wix.com/crankbaitlips#!home/mainPage Hope this helps - please let us know what you find.
  7. Have you considered just starting with a 1-piece wake bait? It might be gratifying to start simple and expand from there. At any rate, keep us informed on your progress... very interesting post, I love wake baits!
  8. Please let us know how they turn out, I've been thinking of trying something similar for a while now.
