here is a tutorial by Lincoya in the member submitted tutorials. its a great how to. i made on of these and it works perfect...
After reading that tutorial, that seems like an awesome way of doing it. I might have to try doing this and be playing around with the weights. I want to make them for bass sized balsa baits so I'll be doing 1.5,2,2.5,3,and 3.5 gram weights probably. Thanks for the share!

I want to start making my own lead belly weights for crankbaits. Does anyone make a mold for them? I didn't see one by do-it. I don't mind making my own,but rather than trial and error a bunch, does anyone have any help they want to lend? I'm sure making a mold out of wood is going to be the easiest.

Who make sure the best fluke mold closest to zooms?

Give Alex a try, there's a lot more patterns and sizes he's working on as well.

I've been trying some baitmold molds and the baits stick in the mold something fierce and I've only had experience with aluminum molds and silicone hand put molds. What's the best mold release. I tried some oily scent I have with no luck.

Yeah I might just have to go a different route

Does anyone make a mold almost exactly like the 4" chigger craw and still produce it? I know swing oil baits makes baits just like the chigger called the bean craw but the last time I made a big order I had to cancel due to it was 5 months past when I was supposed to receive them so I want to get my own mold and produce them.

Thanks guys!

Can anyone name the company that made/makes this mold? It's injection.

I wanna get into making hard body swimbaits out of a resin. I plan on using real Shad and baitfish for the master. I've been looking at alumilite products. I'm wanting to make something like the bullshad or glide baits but in smaller versions.Has anyone played around with this and had much success?

Has anyone tried pouring with either of these using do-it molds or lee melting pots? I have a dealer who carries it by the pound now and I'd like to give it a try. It's ALOT more expensive but it has better vibration one wire baits and it's better for the environment.

I find it works a lot better thinned 20% - 30% with Xylol/Xylene.... Measuring for accuracy, that's only after I use it a few times

Thanks for the replies guys! Honestly I used clear nail polish coat on jigs in the past but the first true hardcoat I ever tried was KBS and never knew of anything else out there unless you use devcon. Which don't get me wrong, devcon is great but I'm lazy and don't want to mix two parts. Sometimes my batchs of baits are 60-80 or several hundred with jigs or sometimes they're just 10 baits or less. I like KBS so much because it's good to use right from the store (summit auto carries it and they're only 30 minutes away on the way to several lakes). Usually I thin the KBS though after several uses since every time air gets in the can it starts to thicken it and that stuff isn't cheap! I found it great as a sealer for crankbaits as well.

Whats the best way to do this to get an even coat? I use a heatgun for a heat source but would it be better to just use a fluid bed or to use a paint brush and tap the powdercoat on?

Does anyone have any feedback or experience with baitmold.com? I know they're overseas and shipping wont be quick, but I just make baits for myself and a couple friends alone. So production molds and spending $150-$300+ on a single mold isn't what I want. His molds are pretty cheap and made from soap stone or some variation material like it and he claims it has the life and accuracy pour that an aluminum mold does.

I've used KBS and stuck with it because I've had such good luck,I use devcon on my jigs but I always wonder if there is something better out there.

I have his drop shot mold and I love it

Thanks guys! I'll be giving it a try soon!

I'm pretty new to pouring but it's become addicting. One color that puzzles me is my favorite and most productive, breen. Can anyone help me with a recipe that's close to it or dead on?

whats the best way to pour spinnerbaits and buzzbaits? It's difficult with a 4" clearance on my pot with a half inch spout sticking below....ladle fed possibly? also whats the easiest way to powdercoat them without a mess....I just got a small chicago powder paint gun I'd like to try.

Thanks for the info guys! I shot about 12 ounces yesterday, Had a blast. Also found matching orings at my shop as well and snagged a few. They're high heat tolerance stiff orings as well as medium stiffs for the oilfield. Made to resist temps over 500 degree easily without losing form and made for high pressures in upwards of 60,000lbs. Interested to see how well they work in this application.

I bought my bass tackle last night! Can't wait to get it!
Making Lead belly weights

I thought about that as well, with their finesse drop shot mold but thought I might get away cheaper than $40 mold and then using it for only belly weights.
