  1. Exacto knife usually works for me. I have a set that has many of the triangular shaped blades that go to a point. Only done a few, but I was even able to reuse them. The ones I did were 3d eyes. Not sure about flat eyes.
  2. 1st and 2nd attempt at airbrushing. I have been reading ALOT and watching videos on airbrushing lures. I had an old plastic Testors Airbrush for painting model cars along with an unused can of propellant. I borrowed my girls Wal mart brand craft paint and gave it a go. The Blue/Chartreuse was my 1st attempt yesterday and the craw pattern I did tonight. The Craw bait turned out a little darker than I intended but I like it. Going to head to Hobby Lobby this weekend and invest in a good Airbrush a d get some good paints. That is unless I get to go fishing with all this bad weather we are having in the South. I THINK I'M HOOKED!
  3. Thanks guys, I clearcoated my first paint job today. Used this Devcon 2T, after seeing several videos and reading about it on here. I did notice when mixing and applying that it had a CLOUDY appearance unlike the videos I had watched. I thought i had done something wrong or maybe got the wrong kind. Most of it cleared as it was drying but there are a still a couple of cloudy areas on the bait of which I can live with. I was concerned enough that I did a search and this is what popped up. I did get my tube and it did have a somewhat Cloudy appearance to the tube. I will know what to do before my next use.
  4. What you can do to minimize flash with the OWNER hooks is pour the 3/0 and 5/0 hooks without the 4/0 hook and then do the 4/0 hook. I have also just poured the 4/0 slot along with the 5/0 slot and got pretty good results. It seems that if you have all slots filled there will be a little more flash. Just experiment like I did and you will find what works best. With the Mustad hook you can pour all without worry.
  5. Yes, you can use it. I have the same TROKAR FOOTBALL mold. I use both the Mustad and the OWNER 5304. The 3/0 and 5/0 OWNER will fit pretty much without or very little flashing. The 4/0 hook was the only hook in the OWNER that i had a little trouble getting to fit. However it will still work with only a tiny bit of flash.
  6. I finished my FLUID BED this weekend and I encountered the same problem with coffee filters. I doubled up and noticed a little difference but still had some leakage. I went to 3 and didn't have any leakage ands still had good lift and fluid action. I also tried a couple other media but didn't get the "lift" that I got with the coffee filters. I also tried a vacuum bag and it worked well with only a few specs leaking thru the bottom after about 10 minutes. I am gonna try the vacuum bag media for a few turns and see how that goes. I can see what guys mean by TRIAL AND ERROR. I made several different cups for seperate colors but I intend on using the same base that the cups will screw in to. If i have enough leakage then I can't see the benefit of having to fluid bed to save paint. I just wasn't expecting the leakage issue.
