  1. Have read the whole thread on this subject. Only drawback I saw was the hazy look that some were getting especially on black. Then some found out about slowing the cure. Was this the only way to help fight the hazy look? That and also using thinner coats?
  2. Thats cool, really looking forward to seeing how it does. Some lures i like to use different things on depending on what i do.
  3. Dropped the bomb and ordered some. Curious as how its gonna do. Hearing good things, i like the fast cure time. How long does it usually take to recieve it after ordering it?

    Dipping Etex

Will use the turner then, thanks guys. Read the write up from fat fingers. Great stuff.
  5. Absolutely a great site. Have read a ton on here and made some great friends.
  6. Yeah i read that from Rayburn guy. Havnt got one of the mini blasters yet. Reason i was asking is i want to do a lure that has heavy glitter down the back spine but very light on the sides and belly. Was just curious on how to get that look.

    Dipping Etex

Were you not happy with the way they came out? I have a lure turner but i have been dipping my baits so far. Was just curious as to how to get the best finish from the two methods.

    Dipping Etex

Did a search and couldnt seem to find what i was really looking for. Can you mix up some etex since it is thinner than d2t and dip it or brush it on and hang it up? How does the lure come out looking? Or is it better to just use a lure turner?
  9. Thanks Rayburn, i will get away from the q-tips.
  10. How are you guys applying glitter to your cranks when using DN as a topcoat?
  11. Like above, after every color change i back flush till no paint is left. If there is a little then i take a q-tip and swab it out. Then i run a little more water through it. The backflushing makes a huge difference in my opinion.
  12. I have been using d2t and i wasnt thinning it down and brushing it on thick since i didnt have a turner. Well finally made me a turner and so i was messing around with it and wanted to test the turner so i took some d2t and thinned it down with some da. That is when i noticed the yellowish tint. Maybe it was me just now noticing it but do you guys think it had something to do with the da? I dont know just a thought.

    Dn Storage

Bobv, I have only gotten one can of it so far. I poured the whole thing into a new mason jar. Bought the bloxygen and after i dipped i would spray some in holding the lid just cracked enough to get the straw in. I liked the dipping method, and its a great product. If i get another can i will definately never open it and just tap the can. And i will brush it on and hang. I dont crank out a lot of lures like a lot of guys do so i dont mind brushing it on. I just didnt like the waste of so much dn that occured for me. I have been using that as3000 sealer that is for concrete design and so far i like it. Dries faster and super glossy. I usually do two coats and let it cure real good. Have gone out and fished my cranks and it seems to be holding up great. I still use d2t when i do glitter on a bait so i can just mix it in when i stir my epoxy. D2t is great as well. Im thinking of trying the solarez maybe and see how that does. Im always into trying different things.
  14. I use a iwata revolution, but this is for a iwata NEO. I havnt used it in a while and going to give it to my daughter so she can do some stuff. But i have three needles for it and they got mixed up. Also how do i tell which nozzles go to each needle since they are paired up? My fault for not putting them in a bag and labeling them.
  15. Hey guys how do you measure the needles on the airbrushes? got a few mixed up and need to figure them out. I have a pair of mics. But where do they take their measurment at? Thanks... John

    New Topcoat

Correct, the product is as3000 sold at artcrete.com. That is what I got off the 6 gallon pale of it.

    New Topcoat

Still using this new sealer as a topcoat. Seems to be really holding up well. I have fished with some cranks for several outings now and they look just as good as when dipped. I have mainly gone to using it all the time unless i put glitter on and then i just been using d2t. Will post more as i go along on it.

    Dn Storage

Open it up and skim off the cured stuff and if what is underneath is still good then dip. That's what I did. I was in the same boat as you and it worked ok for me. I have since moved onto another sealer as well. One that I can dip but doesn't have storage issues.
  20. I use those little medical mixing cups you can get off ebay for like 3 dollars or so for a 100. I use them to thin my paints, mix epoxy and just whatever. Then i just trash them. Might consider getting some and trying them out. I sure like them.

    New Topcoat

A-Mac, sorry i havnt been able to get on here lately. Go to www.artcrete.com. It is the AS3000. That is what i got off the five gallon pale at my neighbor's house. Hope this helps. If i remember right he said it was around 150.00 for the 5 gallon pale. They have a number on their website you can call and see if they will send a sample and maybe offer it in a gallon jug.
  22. Thanks Ben, i was just reading the FAQ on the stuff and came across that. Do you have to brush the solarez on or can you dip it?

    New Topcoat

Went out this morning and did some bass fishing.. Couldnt be more happy with that new top coat i am using. I ran my cranks on the bottom, over rocks and fished with them only. They did very well. So much happier with that new sealer than the dn. Dont get me wrong dn is a great product but with the storage problems its just not for me. I can use this sealer till its all gone and dont loose any. So far so good. I also took a crank and weighted it down under water for a day and no effect on the high gloss shine. Looks just as good as it did when i dipped it. Will report back as i use them more. Also one thing i have noticed is that i havnt had any paint wrinkles with this new sealer. Every now and then i would get a little wrinkling using the dn. Dont know if i didnt heat set correctly or not but so far no issues with that either.
  24. Why do you use the MEKP? If you go to the link above and click on it it takes you to the Solarev page. If you click on FAQ on the left side it has a bunch of questions and answers. Click on the question on can it be thinned. It says you can not have any MEKP in it. So i dont understand. Can someone explain for me please?
