I have the dual & a single 6 ouncer from basstackle.. I have taken it apart to use in combination with the single 6 ouncer to shoot 18 ounces at a time when wanted. You can make a bunch of baits in a hurry like this. What brand is your 4 ouncer?
I always demold in 3 minutes. It was a little different at first since i'd been using calhouns & lureworks but after getting use to it i really like it & is all i'm using now. It seemed a little oily to me at first but cured up excellemt in my opinion. I'm getting ready to order 5 gallons now.
I'd say the medium/ hard would work well. I use medium & add hard at a 50-50 mix to make tubes & it gives them what i consider the perfect firmness & still not to tough & the tails have good action. The medium/hard should be some good stuff i'd think.
Bill i've only used the 212. You could call them & they'll answer any questions you have. I've only used the medium 212 & the hard & like them both a lot.
Just be very careful pouring it in so you don't get burnt. Sucking it up & turning the injector over on an angle & purging the air out of the injector is very easy to do so that's what i do each time & it works great.
I'd oil it about every 3 to 4 shots. I do mine as soon as i start to feel it tighten up & it's still on the original o rings after years of heavy use. I use worm oil on mine but some use pam cooking spray.
I inject that mold at a decent speed & hold pressure for about 5 seconds, top of sprue & wait 3 minutes to demold then throw in water. The only time i've had denting with it was when i got the temp a little to hot.
Looks like a heavy dose of micro gold flake in an orange base for the bottom & what tiderunner said on top. Could also be orange with some red colorant added too sort of a tomatoish color.
I use medium plastic 99% of the time but when i make tubes i add some hard to the medium. Usually shoot in 4 ounce batches so i do 2 ounces medium to two ounces hard & it makes great tubes. I'm thinking my baby shad style baits i may try a hard body & medium tail to see if i like the way they hold up. If not back to full medium. Why not get some soft plastic & add medium or hard to it if they're to soft to suit you & you don't have to add hardner?
Yep i have to let my aluminum cnc molds cool when i get on a roll & make a bunch of baits in a hurry. I have put half of another mold on each side of the mold i was injecting. If injecting several i will put a half on each side of them all & clamp down tight. It's enough of a heat sync that i haven't had any problems like this.
I had one made by authentic hand made from The Ukraine & it was bad to expand & contract when using. I made notches in the tip to be able to remove it with a screw driver & asked him what size Orings he used & then replaced them with a better grade Oring & it worked fine as long as you oiled it about every shot which was way to aggravating for me so i ended up selling it to another member after doing some trading with Frank on here for a basstackle dual injector. As long as i'm making plastics it will be basstackle injectors for me.
I know folks do put mica powder on some plastics & then clear coat them with clear plastisol. I'd try one to see but if it works & you do remelt you know you'll completely change the original color. That is if the air brush paint is capable of being melted down.
Great info. I've been wanting to get a printer & make my own molds but haven't yet. You gave some very good info for sure. Please come back & share more info & pics of your results. Thanks
