  1. I have been working on some 9" muskie diving baits. Similar to the grandma and Jake patterns. I have begun to try and cut the lip cut outs and am failing miserably. I have been trying to make 40 degree cuts on my table saw to accommodate a .20" lexicon lip and the results are splintered wood around the lip and basically trashing or cracking the bait. I'm guessing if I use masking tape to mark off the cut line it may reduce the splintering. However I can not figure out for the life of me what blade to use. I have tried the standard table saw blade and several thickness of a dado blade. I badly need a bit of advice as trial and error is only resulting in errors. Any suggestions would be awesome
  2. Great ideas everybody. The bait is a 8" crank for musky will try the suggestions today and will post finds later today
  3. I'm really struggling with ballast placement on my lure. 2 questions Should I tape some weight to the bottom of the lure and make test casts I was thinking about pouring lead for my ballast. Am I over complicating it going that route? Thanks much
  4. I've been looking for an old post ballast installation, but am coming up with nothing. Does anybody recall a post addressing this topic? Specifically I'm trying to learn the process for filling in the hole left after you add ballast. Do you just epoxy and then sand until its level with the rest of the bait? Thanks
  5. Thanks mzee that was the one I was looking for
  6. I remember some time back there was a post that discussed determining the amount of weight a lure needed. I beleieved you would use a scale and water. I can't seem to find the post. Does anybody remember the post and when it was put up. Thanks
  7. Excellent thanks much all
  8. So below is my first blank. It's a 8" Muskie bait that will be lipped with 3 size 2/0 hooks. Question is do must lipped baits needs at least some weight. I intend to test it regardless but would like to see if it necessary regardless.
  9. Excellent advice, very much appreciated. I will post a picture when complete
  10. I'm working to build a lure that will be fished rather deep 100' behind a downrigger ball. My thought is to make it back weighted and lipless as I would like it to go thru the water parallel to the bottom. I would very much welcome suggestions and or ideas on a better way to achieve what I'm looking to do. Thanks
  11. Quick questions what grit sand paper do you all use before priming(Sealing)? What about after priming(sealing) if any?
  12. Actually had a follow question. Any reason I couldn't use my portercable pancake compressor so long as I add the moister trap? Thanks
  13. Awesome guys thanks much. Looking thru options now. Very much appreciated. Best
  14. I'm looking at getting a new airbrush and was trying to use the search tool before going to the board here. However, I'm only getting 2 pages of results and none of them are about airbrush selection. I remember reading posts on here about different memebers set ups. Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
