  1. I saw that on youtube. If memory serves me correct type B Callo, and the channel should come up. Scroll through his videos to see the one that he modifies a Rapala DT.
  2. Thanks for all the replies. I am going to try all the suggestions. Have been really occupied lately so I haven't really sat down to really paint yet. When I do, everything that I have learned will be put to use. Again, I have taken note on everyone's inputs. Really thankful that everyone has help me clear my head about this.
  3. I bought an Iwata HP-BS so it is a quality airbrush. I'm using Createx paints with reducers. I got a fairly decent air compressor with moisture trap. I think my air regulator is not working properly. Any suggestions on this. My regulator doesn't seem to go to the psi I want even when I turn it all the way down. I have fairly good lighting but could be better. All these inputs are helping me out now. Thanks to all that replied. All in all, I just need more practice.
  4. I guess I am just being hard on myself. My biggest problem is that I just can't seem to get the paint consistency right. Sometimes too thick. Sometimes too thin. I just want to be able to get even spray. I guess its a work in progress on my behalf. I will not stop though. I enjoy it too much that sometimes I dream of painting more elaborate paint schemes. Funny how it gets me frustrated but yet I enjoy it.
  5. I keep my airbrush fairly clean. I would clean the needle and cup between colors. After painting, I break it down and clean with acetone with plastic brushes for airbrushes and lube everything up. I think its all in my head because I just want my lures to look professional but keep forgetting that I picked this up seriously about 3 months ago. Well, practice makes perfect so I just got to keep trucking. I watch videos and do research about how to blend colors but haven't mastered that yet. Thanks for all the input.
  6. BobP, makes sense. I guess it doesn't really matter how a crank looks as far as detail to a bass. Its just that we as fishermen just want the best we can get our hands on or the best we could paint.
  7. Thanks to all the replies. I'm feeling a little better now. Still learning so I won't give up.
  8. I appreciate that Ben. I guess everyone new to painting cranks get frustrated then. I don't expect to have my cranks showcased but would like it to be presentable. I guess at this point, practicing is my biggest friend. I won't give up though. I still have a long way to go.
  9. Why is it that everytime I pick up my airbrush to paint, I always feel like I'm getting worse? My last two that I did just didn't work to well. I had a vision of what I wanted, but in the end it was a disaster. Is this how frustrating it gets when trying to start out at this. I got a quality airbrush and quality paint, but the results doesn't satisfy me. Is it all trial and error? I mean the baits are fishable but not quite what I want. Please help. Thanks in advance. I was just feeling lost in this.

Messing around with different techniques. Still a newbie. Createx paint and MCU. LMK what you all think. Thanks.
  11. After looking at the bait for awhile, I don't think it was the paint that wrinkled. It is actually the MCU that wrinkled. So I would sand the coat back down and reseal again. Thanks.
  12. Thanks. I could just resand and paint. Wasn't sure. I think I rushed it a little.
  13. I know the general reasons for wrinkling. My question is that after a bait has wrinkled, is there a way to reuse the bait or is the bait just trash. I am wondering if you could just sand back down and repaint. I know what my issue was. I probably didn't let the bait dry long enough. Thanks for any input.
  14. Played around with the new Iwata, came up with this. Still not good yet but practice makes perfect.
  15. My first attempt at bluegill. Yea, was having problems with my airbrush. It was a syphon feed. Just got a new airbrush so hopefully it gets better.
