  1. Good morning all,

does anyone have a source for flutter spoon blanks? I want some in the 5.5” and 6” range as well as some in the 7 and 8” range that have a reasonable price. I looked at kokanee dodger blanks but I’m worried about them holding up and being heavy enough to cast. Also any recommendations on clear coats for spoons that would allow me to paint them, add glitter and/ or heat stamp patterns and would hold up and not yellow too bad?

    TIA

I was looking into exactly the same thing. Haven’t found any info yet. I’ll probably end up making a silicone mold of an appropriately sized Colorado blade and a flat bottom piece and casting the parts out of tough plastic. Once out of the mold, I’ll put the rattles in the plastic Colorado half and then super glue the flat bottom piece onto it to seal it up.

I’ll more than likely end up buying the Teckel Maraker when it comes out before I actually get around to casting my own part though.

Yeah that was my last resort haha. With things like this though, it’s always the last resort that’s the best option I find. I’ll probably buy a few too just to experiment.

  3. Some of you may have seen this but there’s a new bait coming out of Japan and on the back, it has what looks like a Colorado blade but if you look on the other side where it should be cupped, it’s filled in. Upon watching videos of it, I realized it was a loud rattling blade, possibly plastic. It sounded like a rattle trap being ripped through the water except it was on the back of this frog. Really want to try and make one of these blades to coax the bass up through the weed mats. Any suggestions?

  4. I’ve had a friend already go after pike with the kbs just to test the coat. I’m from California so I don’t have to worry about pike. The kbs held up a lot better than we expected. I put on 3 coats of the spray stuff because I was in a hurry and it held up nicely.

  5. I sent some baits that were triple coated with the spray stuff to my friend who was pike fishing in Canada. Past baits I’d sent to him came back with little or no paint. KBS ones seemed to have more paint in tact.

PS Mark, if you’re going to the delta, I’m jealous. I’m on Oklahoma for school right now.....

  6. And for clarification I do believe zman should defend their patent but I don't think that just because some guy makes one for himself in his garage that works a little better than the original he should get in trouble. :) I know if I had a patent and people started mass producing my idea without giving me credit I would be pissed too.

  7. I've been doing what Mark does for a while here with the Phenix vibrating jigs. Ole California delta trick (wink wink) but I really wanna start pouring the heads myself. Zman had the right idea with the chatterbait but in the past years the quality of components has gotten worse from them. That's why I wanna make my own.

  8. I'm looking for coffin shaped shaker blades like the original vibrating jig uses. I've found sources from China, but they're sold out of the medium sized blades that are commonly used on the 1/4 oz size. these baits are for personal use.

  9. After fooling around with AC1315, it's made me think. What other concrete sealers have been tried out there with minimal problems? AC1315 has its challenges for sure and its drawbacks like melting when in contact with plastics. So has anyone tried other concrete sealers?
