  1. I am going to swim against the current on this one...I dont believe it will work as well as you might suspect and here is my reasoning- in order to spin the blade at the maximum efficiency throughout the lenght of the cast the angle has to be relatively flat on the surface of the water.. if your ballast weight is in the rear the point of your line tie will always want to lay at a bad angle- meaning the blade wont spin as fast... thats why inline buzzbaits have a swivel point. I'm no scientist/engineer but I did spend many years building buzz and spinnerbaits.and have tried the direct body to blade wire design and could never make it work for me...even if i bent the wire coming out of the lead- it never ran consistently throughout the entire cast. You really have to smoke it in to keep the buzz blade turning. I realize its an extra step to add a connection point with split rings, loops, etc. but in this case I think it might be a neccesity. Dave
  2. Hello all...I'm trying to find a alternative to the Eagle Claw 635 in a Mustad round bend hook...I looked at the 32746 but the leg going to the eye is too long...do they still make one with the shorter leg? Thanks in advance -Dave
  3. Thanks...thats just what I needed to know- Mr. Dremel and I go way back!!
  4. Hello All...Who knows of my hook choices with this Do-It mold #SUHD-5-A ...It calls for a EC 410...will a 32786 Mustad fit?...Thanks in advance -Dave
  5. Nedyarb- Does using the split ring still allow the blade to tick the jig body? -Dave
  6. I have several of his molds and all are top shelf...very easy to pour. -Dave
  7. I have some 2/0 and 3/0 Mustad 32786NPBLN and some 3/0 and 4/0 Mustad 32796NPBLN Jig hooks to trade for some Fiber Weed Guards, Powder Paints, Skirt Tabs, Buzzbait Blades or 5/0 and 6/0 Jig Hooks or WHATEVER...what do you have? -Dave
  8. Just a thought...but you can also try a kitchen supply store for a battery powered stirrer. They have adjustable legs to fit across the pot and slowly stir whatever is in the pot. I had one years ago when the stick worm craze started and it worked great in my Presto pot. Plenty strong and no bubbles. You can also probably find one on Ebay. Good luck -Dave
  9. Hello...have you tried Mudhole.com? They are a rod-building site and have lots of small sports related logos. Nice folks too -Dave
  10. Right on Nova...I was going to say the same thing -Dave
  11. Musky Glen...you have a PM from me Thanks!
  12. I had to read all these posts with a large grin on my face...how true! I have long said this about Rat;L;Traps. Just about one in 10 or 15 is a virtual fish magnet and seems to have just a tiny bit more shake in its caboose. When I was guiding on the Kissimmee Chain in Florida full time we would often go through 30 or 40 of the Chrome/Blue Back 1/4 ounce models in a season. Most were eventually lost to grass or pickeral. The "magic" ones just seemed to have an extra shake or two for every foot of retrieve. When you found one of the special ones you could virtually wear the chrome off of the bait catching bass and continue to catch fish whereas a "normal" one stopped catching many fish when almost any chrome was gone. I remember telling a client about this and and he wanted to see if he could tell the difference- so we ran the baits side by sde next to the boat and you could just barely make out the difference...then on the second or third try a 4 pound bass came from ubder the boat and ate mine! Talk about a convincing demo!!
  13. Thanks Cougarftd...that appears to be it...a friend told me when he saw this one that whoever made it had a larger size also...this one is just shy of 3/8 of an ounce and the one on ebay is a 1/2 oz so it looks like he was correct also....you guys are the best!! -Dave
  14. OK...thanks for the clarification- I remember Rat-L-Traps tried the same thing with the bill years ago. I have had all of my "older" (I'm 58) bass fishing buddies look at it and even though a couple said it looked familiar none could stick a nane to it. I found it in a lot of used crankbaits I bought off of Ebay in 2003 or 4. It appears to be in pretty good shape- no scatches or dings although the "bib" has yellowed a bit from age. -Dave
  15. Thanks AA...but this is a silent bait- and I believe the Racket Shad had rattles and was a bit thicker bait than this - Dave P.S. "bibs" ?
