  1. Is there a trick to painting tungsten ice jigs. A couple buddies and I have been having problems with the paint sticking to the blank tungsten jigs. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
  2. Im only heat seating with a hair dryer. Maybe not long enough???
  3. Hey guys new to TU but have gotten some great info from you guys and wanted to say thank you. Ok heres my problem. Createx painted crankbaits and then dipped in GST as top clearcoat. Paint started to wrinkle immediately. Im new to painting crankbaits so my paint may have been to thick??? The baits were allowed to dry a few days as ive been busy doin other things and didnt get around to clearcoating them till this morning. I did 3 baits, 2 of which were untextured bodies and 1 was a textured body. The textured bait did not wrinkle at all while the 2 untextured baits wrinkled immediately after pulling out of GST. Im hoping I just painted to thick although they didnt look to thick. I just let the baits air dry in the room that they were painted in which is a spare bedroom, so air temp and/humidity werent a factor. Please help me out guys.
  4. I already have some blanks but cant buy flicker shad blanks.
  5. Anybody out there wanna blast some factory cranks to remove the paint for me. I am willing to pay a nominal fee plus shipping to and from. Probably less than 20 crankbaits total. For some reason, I feel the need to paint on a blank bait vs scuffing it up and repainting. Anybody out there willing to help me out????

Thanks, and yeah ill put eyes on it before I clearcoat it. Im new to painting crankbaits and this was the 3rd one ive done.
  7. When using the gst or any finishing clearcoat for that matter, are you guys just hanging the baits or are they on a lure turning contraption. I apologize for my lack of correct terminology, just a new guy painting up some cranks for my personal use.
  8. I appreciate all the useful info from you guys but I have one more question. How do I apply the epoxy topcoat to the crankbaits?? After much research I think I may end up using the devcon 2T epoxy but just wondering jow I put on the crankbaits.
  9. Hello guys, im new to TU and new to all this lure making. Actually, I havent even started yet but joined this sight after trolling it for a few days. One thing I will say is, I feel like im waaayyyy outta my league here. Im just looking to paint some premade unpainted crankbaits for walleye fishing and probably paint up some tungsten jigs for ice fishing. Im on a bit of a budget and not looking to sell these baita. Just thought it would be fun to paint my own lures. So let me start with a few basic questions... Airbrush and Compressor-recommendations Paints? Equipment to hold baits while painting? Clear coats? Stencils (are they needed or not) I am an absolute rookie and have no idea what is needed and/or not needed. Neither me nor any of my fishing buddies have painted our own lures. So im basically looking at what do I need to get started? Please forgive me if some of my questions seem rather elementary. Just new to this and want to get as much information as possible. Any help is appreciated and I will definitely keep you guys posted on my successes and probably many failures. Thanks guys
