New to airbrush painting and have a couple of questions. 1. Painting some walleye lures and the fluorescent colors seem way thinner than the other createx colors I'm using and im having trouble getting even coverage (Especially Chartreuse). Do I need to add 4050 or 4030? Or do multiple coats? 2. Can a person paint over silver holographic tape or prism tape with transparent airbrush paint to get a different color effect? I've seen it on other lures just not sure how it's accomplished. Appreciate any feedback.

Just getting into painting lures and looking for blanks like flicker shad or shad raps. I found some crankbaits on clearance that are ready to fish just dont like the colors. What are the steps to repaint the bait to customize it and seal it?

I've always used powder paint when making lead jigs and jigging spoons and then just baked in a toaster oven to cure. Even use a powder paint gun to powder paint blade baits and shiver minnows. I am now wanting to try acrylic paints as I like the finer detail that can be acheived. My hold up is what to use as a topcoat/sealer? I know KBS is popular, but I make jigs/lures for my use and not for resale. I feel the KBS is fairly expensive and will go bad before I get enough use out of it. What other options are out there? I've seen clear nail polish mentioned, but not sure how long that would hold up. Can 2 ton epoxy be thinned out to provide a thin coat? Looking for something that won't effect the action of a blade bait, but provide a durable topcoat/sealer. Thanks for any insight...

Looking to see if anyone knows what kind of hooks rapala uses for the front and tail hooks on a jigging rap? Or a suggestion on the type of hook to try when making a lure similar to the rapala jigging rap. They seem rather stout.. Thanks

I purchased a powder paint gun from TJ's tackle and an aquarium pump. I can't get it to shoot the powder out. Not enough psi imo.. My question is what type of air compressor works good with this gun? Any additional fittings needed to hook gun up to compressor? Says it only needs 5-8 psi...

Thanks Cadman! What's the BLN hooks? Have a model number to reference? Plan is to use these jigs for walleye. The eagle claw works fine unless a person hooks into a wiper then they destroy them.

Anyone have experience with the live bait jig mold from do it mold. The one with the eye for a stinger hook. Interested in what people use for hooks in it. The short shank 570 hook seems too small. The biggest I can find is 1/0. Anyone tried the eagle claw little nasty hooks? Or any other suggestions?

Was curious if anybody has ever used sebile vibrato jigging spoons and if they're a lead spoon or some other type of metal? Had a guy tell me about them so I looked them up on the internet, but I've never seen one in person. For those that have seen or used them is there a mold that is similar to the vibrato?

Picked up a blade bait mold after having great results on them last fall. Im getting ready to order inserts and was wondering if a person paints them if they can just use the brass inserts instead of the chrome as they are a little cheaper? Or are there benefits to the solid chrome? Also, can anyone suggest a powder paint airbrush. I read that the airbrush is the best method for painting blades. Thanks

Im painting some jigheads with pro tec powder paint. Im wanting to make a 2 color chartreuse/hot pink jighead for walleye fishing. However, after I bake the jigs the hot pink looks more like a fluorescent orange. I was wondering if anyone has any tips. Im still new to powder painting. What I did was powder paint all my jigs white. Next I coated them all chartreuse because I want that as the primary color. Lastly, I added the hot pink. Im wondering if I baked them too hot or too long? I set the oven to 300 and left the jigs for 15 min. Or if its putting the pink on top of the chartreuse that is making it look more fluorescent orange. Thanks

When it comes to gluing the plastic tail on would devcon 2 ton be recommended or something else that is more flexible?
