  1. Hey all. What are most of your ideas about kill Dots? My personal preference is, I don't think I like them any bigger than the eye of the bait. But in nature they come in all sizes. What is your preference and preferred spot you like to put them?

  2. Hey Fellow Baiters........ lol

as you know our fishing clients "if you sell baits" can be very set in the things they do, even go far as calling them Primadonna's lol any way, some of these fishermen I build for ask for good hooks because they tournament fish. was wondering if any of you guys might know where to get bulk good hooks from? Somewhere reliable please.

    Thanks in advance Zilla!

  3. I was thinking the other day about micro scratches, if we use something abrasive to clean out needles and have micro scratches the paint will stick to the needle and won't flow as nicely and might start a spot for a paint glump to occur. And what do you guys use to clean your tiny needle caps?

  4. It's my understanding that pearls are made to shoot as watered down as much as possible. Should be a light fog over a color you want to enhance. And a little goes a long way. A base color is good. Then shoot the pearl color to match. That's how it should be approached. It's more of an enhancement color or pearl. If that makes any sense.

  5. Hey Guys, found something today to clean Needles for your paint guns that won't scratch or bend your needles. I'm in Canada so bare with me on this. We have a product up here called a magic eraser made by "Mr.Clean" it's a cleaning sponge infused with cleaning agents. It's quite soft and light, you can poke the needle with ease through it and run it back and forth. It's quite remarkable how well it works! Hope this might help. Take care, and Paint On!

  6. Just a thought. ... I haven't read all the replies, sorry. But have you thought to use the rubber bands to hold it open on the drying wheel yes.... but only do one side at a time. I know it's a longer process, but you can do the one side and when it's done clean up the excess waste off the joint and then do the second half. And when that side is done clean up the excess waste. I'd got lighter on the car coat if using appoxy in the middle section. Maybe use a little vasiline so it won't bond to the hardware in the middle. Hope this might be some help. Good luck and post pics! Zilla.

  7. Every fisherman, and research that I have done leads me in this direction. Fishermen want an erratic bait. one that doesn't follow the norm. the want a bait that screams I'm in trouble. One that looks hurt, swimming different than the rest of the bait fish. something that might stand out from the others but looks the same as the rest of the baitfish. A wounded baitfish makes it easy to eat and the fish doesn't have to spend as much effort in eating it. Remember fish don't like to waste calories on a meal, it has to be big enough reward for it to make it worth while. Yes, big baits mean bigger fish but don't go overboard. Do the bait fish, fishermen always say, match the hatch (the hatched out baitfish) so do this but maybe ad a colour or a kicker feather to the back treble. make that sucker say "I'm having difficulty swimming!" The predators will pick up on that. even adding a kill dot might give a slight edge, red around the gill plate. Hope this gives you a little food for thought.

    Zilla.

  8. I use E-tex and I don't have any problems that you are going through. Why not use it? Too thick? Don't like it? If one thing doesn't work or you have a high failure rate why not move on? Why be like a chemist mix this and that and mix it like this, only have 3 min to apply. ... E-tex I mix it apply it and all done except for the wait.

  9. Also using teflon tape on the treads on the nose cap holder makes a better seal. Look at some cleaning of air brush videos on youtube. Like mentioned you might have damaged the cone and air can't get around the needle. be very careful inserting the needle twist the needle as you slide forward, gently till it stops then tighten lockdown screw. Remember cones and needles need replacement one every so often, the price you have to pay. its good to have spare parts on hand. Cause when ever i usually break something its when the stores are closed! lol

  10. Maybe check your local buy and sell adds. some people try it have problems and sell them really fast and cheap. Even nail salons use them for makeup and nails and they are looking to sell stuff as well. Local model clubs and E-Bay might help. makes the cost a lot easier to bare.... the start of the hobby can be expensive.

  11. Some times its good that it covers the eye hole! seals the bait around the eye. I use a dremmel tool with a small drill bit to clean it out. Sometimes water can seep into unwanted holes. I'd rather clean out the holes and make sure all holes are filled. Trick is, before you put it on the drying wheel, clean the holes out with your application brush. Also you might be putting too much on, I start at the head of the bait, just touch on the outside of the paint with the epoxy and pull backward down the bait working towards the tail. once i have full coverage I take off the excess by brushing from nose to tail and cleaning the excess epoxy off the brush into the container. remember a little goes a long way! I put tape on the first part of my bills just so my alligator clips on my drying wheel have something to bite into. Hope this helps.
