  1. yea i let it set a little longer and the smell went away i do think that dipping is not the way to go.brushing seems to leave a lot better overall finish. This stuff is hard I even foiled a wood lure and it coated it just fine.It aint that bad really.I got to work with it more to get use to it but I did not notice the haze on my darker baits or anything.I know i shook the can up each time i put it on the bait as well. But i basically just put together a whole balsa crank in a matter of minutes and that even included painting. So fast.I dont got a uv light so i was using the sun.It still worked flawlessley.Where i didn't have anything built to hang them on i had to hold them so one spot on my bait has a spot on it where i touched it to early before the resin was cured all the way.I am going to try it again tomorrow with something built to hang it on.I really do believe i can get a flawless finish with this stuff.Need to fish it though before i can comment on durability. But it is hard if not harder then devcon. I also got some nano quartz i tried it on a lure but for some reason it turned a high gray color and also had big crystal liek chunks.Im goign to try it again though as well.Might of had something on the lure that reacted with it.
  2. Ok i got the stuff today.I put it on a wooden lure. Did 3 coats first 2 i brushed on 3rd one i dipped and hanged for i would say about 10 minutes.I got to say it cures to a pretty hard finish. The smell aint to bad but is kinda shocking at first.I have noticed the bait an hour after curing still has a slight smell to it? is that normal?' and if so how long till that usually goes away?
  3. i tried that they told me that my compressor takes 1/4 npt connection but my airbrush uses a 1/8 bsp. So it looks like I need a 1/4 npt male to a 1/8 bsp male and I cannot find that anywhere.I need the 1/4 npt end to connect to my compressor then the 1/8 bsp male to connect to my 1/8 bsp female hose.
  4. yea i been on there but i just cant figure out which one i need
  5. Hello, I have been air brushing with a tankless compressor.I bought a air compressor from walmart but my air brush hose does not fit it.I was needing to know what adapter to buy my air brush is a master g44.
  6. well i just pulled the trigger and ordered some of the polyester gloss resin that mark recommended.I hope i dont get that greyish hue that everyone is talking about.
  7. has any one tried this as a top coat yet solarez Acrylic Modified Polyester Gloss Resin
  8. so do you have any other problems that some are saying with it curing tacky and not hard?
  9. well after giving it some thought for a little while i think im going to get the one that mark uses here http://solarez.com/products/solarez-polyester-gloss-resin/ I have heard that the sanding one is good to so i might get it as well and just compare 2 to each other.I was looking at alum-uv but its just to much and have not heard as many great things about it. I will be using it to seal and top coat balsa baits.Anyone got any tips on using it to seal and top coat wood baits? I also am a little concerned about the haze everyone is talking about
  10. do you dip it in that then hang it with a uv light? I heard this stuff is a lot better then 2 part epoxies think im going to try it out
  11. can someone post a link to the right one to buy? thanks
  12. hey nice tips now how does the foam baits hold up in heat sitting on the boat al lday etc and lets say in the cold as well
  13. Was thinking about trying to make some baits out of alumifoam. What I was wondering was when I make the mold should I make it where it holds the lip and I pour the foam around the lip or should I make the lure then cut a spot out and epoxie the lip in and weight etc>Or will epoxies even work with a foam bait. thanks guys

  15. Hello here is my situation. I painted the baits after sealing. Now i usually paint then apply the eyes. Then etex twice as final top coat.Bu this time i forgot to put the eyes on and etexed the bait.If i let the etex harden all the way then apply the eyes then etex 2 more times would they be ok?They are the 3d stick on eyes.
  16. Hey guys I got a problem I got 6 wood baits all ready painted.Applied the last 2 coats of etex but it faild. It is not really sticky or tacky but soft enough the i can dent it with my fingernail.Could I possibly just devcon over the etex and have no problems?
  17. thanks everyone for the feedback, This site is very helpful
  18. can i coat them before i put them on the rotating dryer or would it be best to coat them while o nthe dryer?
  19. Yep its way to much then bud.Cause once i put it on there i have to spread it our real good and sometimes i can wisk some off of one bait and use it on another.I may try to do like paper thin coats and apply it like u said just barley dip the brush in the etex
  20. i usually use 5ml on 6 baits of etex that is
  21. yes u described it perfectly when I go to remove the tape the far edge next to the nose of the bait is stuck then i have to carve/cut and then the bait looks awful in the front.I think u may be right cause I load the brush then spread it out.So how thin is thin?
  22. Ok I have been trying to make my own baits for a while and i finalyl got a few that work good finally. But i still have a problem that just keeps happening. The etex epoxy keeps covering my eyes that the hooks hang on and the line tie in my bait. then if i try to chisel etc it off it cranks sometimes and the bait kinda looks bad sometimes from it. I love the look the tex gives but really need some help on cpould be doing wrong. I have a spinner and everything. Could I be applying it to thick or? Maybe ishould let it sit some after mixing to let it thicken? any help would be appreciated. I use scotch tape to protect the diving bill would love a better way to do that as well thanks guys in advance
