Thanks Mark! That means a lot

    blood as paint.

I should have done this! I cut my finger pretty bad a few weeks ago while in my basement and really thought about loading up my airbrush with some blood to paint with haha. I was worried about it clotting in the gun and being really hard to clean though so I didn't.

Thanks guys! It was the type of thing "hmm what colors can I throw at this thing?"

    PB&J

Thanks! I would say so far my favorite craw pattern is one that I made on a whim. Kind of threw some paint together and it turned out really well.

I will agree with Braided Line about the eye. The bait itself has enough attention grabbing details that a red eye as an accent doesn't do much for it. Either way, great looking baits! I'm still trying to piece together a bluegill paint pattern that I like.
  7. Thanks for the advice guys. I will try to mess around with the lighting. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to buy anything but since the lighting in my house is yellow-ish I may have to get at least a spot light to get a "true" color. Vodkaman, I was also hoping not to have to alter pictures (just trying to avoid the extra step) but if that is what I have to do to get the quality I want, I will definitely give it a try. Keep the advice coming guys! One can never have too much knowledge!
  8. Hey guys I have a question and hopefully someone can help me out. When I take pictures of my custom painted lures I take them on a mirror with the flash (to black everything else out). The problem is, subtle features are washed out, it creates a glare, and colors aren't accurate. I attached a picture for example. As you can see, the chartreuse sides have almost a pastel look in the front of the bait and the lateral line is hardly visible. My question is how do you guys take pictures so the colors and features are accurate? Thanks for the help in advance!

Jon, pm me with issues you have had with 2 part epoxys. I haven't had any so far. (besides mental errors) Figure, if PB&J is a good soft plastic color, why not try a crankbait right?

Thanks. Hopefully the fish think so too!

Thanks. The clear coat is Devcon 2 ton 30 minute epoxy. You can't tell in the picture but it also has some fine black glitter on the "shell" portion of the bait.
  12. Same thing happened to me about a month ago. Feel free to ask questions on this site about designs and what not, most people will be glad to help.
  13. I really like the subtlety of the design. A very muted perch pattern. I might try to paint one like that...hope you don't mind

At least there aren't pike in LOZ. The first jig I tied a few years ago, I was fishing in South Dakota for smallmouth with my father and the second cast a small pike grabbed it and cut my line right at the boat... The pike was only about 14." It would have made me feel a little better if it was a bigger fish!

Thanks Joe. The reason I was thinking Sub Walk was because of a couple reasons. First I don't remember the name being as long as Skitter Walk when I was sanding it off. The other reason was because the lure started as white holographic body and chartreuse head. I was unable to find that in the Skitter Walk. I believe you are right with the X-Rap Walk.

I like sunburst! Now just to figure out if it is a rapala subwalk or skitter walk. I started sanding it down before I looked.

It is a red eye and the hooks are not attached but I do have red.
  19. I don't know if you have tried using them but helping hands from harbor freight work great!
