  1. I just give baits that I've made away as I can't afford to sell them!
  2. Hi Matt, I am no expert but I have used a few different airbrushes in the last year. If you can afford it, I really like my Harder and Steenback Evolution. After that I would say an Iwata B or C with the tip guard that looks like the top of a rook in chess. I have also used a Paasche VL and VJR. I have also used a side feed Badger. They work OK but I would say the HS works longer without cleaning and is easier to clean. After the HS I would say Iwata then Paasche and Badger. Tom
  3. I wonder lube would help my Paasche VJR? I have a Paasche VJR an Iwata B of some sort with castle looking air cap and a Harder and Steenbeck evolution. I like the Paasche but seems like I'm constantly cleaning it and the trigger gets sticky easily. The HS seems to go longer without clogging and its easier to clean when it does clog. The Iwata falls in the middle. Tom
  4. I was using a Paasche V with the bigger tip. That didn't spray well so I used a Paasche VL with the #3 tip. That did work better. Not sure what size that would be. Tom
  5. The paint I got in August so I dont think it was frozen. The illustration base I got in the last month and I live in South Dakota so there is a chance that was frozen. I have some zinc plated BBs so I could try that. I could look at the plating before I put them in the paint.
  6. Hello, For some reason my Createx white doesn't adhere very well. I scuff up the surface w 320 grit sandpaper. Each coat of white is almost transparent and then is heat set with hot air gun. It seems like it always has a chalky feel. When I use Aztek paint it seem to work fine. I wouldn't even worry but I got a 4 oz bottle of the white paint from createx and a 4 oz bottle of illustration base to thin it, Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Tom
  7. Dave - thanks for your input. I am not wedded to the the polymer clay thing. I had the clay on hand and I thought it would work. I like your idea with bondo even better. Next time I am in a store i will pick some up to try it. Do you think I could use wood filler also? Tom
  8. Since the baits are one piece not split, it creates quite a gap where I am installing the thru wire. I just use the polymer clay for filler and it adds some weight to the bait. The little bit of weight it adds seems to be evenly distributed. I am just doing this as a hobby and I will defer to those with way more wisdom than I have. Hopefully someday I will be a little wiser. Tom
  9. Would you seal before after adding the thru wire?
  10. I did a search but I didn't find the answer to my specific question, When I've made balsa baits, I have put the thru wire in, put polymer clay on top of the thru wire and fired them in the oven to set the clay. Afterward i use runny super glue to seal the bait. My question is should I be sealing the bait before adding the the thru wire also? It seems like a good idea but I do want to something unnecessary. Tom
  11. Thanks for the link Dave. I know once it was on the internet, it was there forever. I just didn't know how to get the info,
  12. I missed the webinar but was happy when I got the recorded linked in my email. I tried to watch it but it says I missed it and the link doesnt work. Any ideas?
  13. Here is what Testors had to say. I guess you do not need to heat set these paints and its not recommended. Thank you for contacting Rust-Oleum Product Support. The Aztek Airbrushable Paints do not need to be heat set and are not recommended for that. The flash point is too low because they are acrylic hobby paints. If you are painting on cloth, we recommend turning inside out and washing in cold water only. If you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
  14. I have only used these paints so I don't really have anything to compare them to. They have the paints at Fleet Farm (not sure what would be comparable in Florida maybe like a large Tractor Supply Co,) so I get them there.
