    Foil

Hi dale, I've posted previously about using hot stamp foil and tacky epoxy/glue to foil complete lure. Its a bit tricky but can be done. Depending on lure shape and size you can just about cover some with aluminium tape, I use venture tape , and with practice you can cover certain lure shapes almost completely ....glider
  2. DoubleT, as above regarding proper drying. When I'm heat setting layers I try not to make overly hot because it can make paint briefly sticky. If I need to put bait down for stencils or whatever, I give a blast of cooler air after hot -using hairdryer settings. Also ,plexiglass or smooth shiny surfaces are going to be stickier, I use paper towel or sketch pad paper to lay lure on if needed for painting and don't have issues with paint sticking or coming off . My opinion,Having paint too warm going on to plexiglass will be main problem ........glider
  3. Wish I could buy by the gallon over here woodieb8, doesn't work out any cheaper no matter the quantity for me. Bummer !
  4. Next best thing I suppose dale......
  5. How you doin dale, catchin plenty I hope !
  6. Meant to mention, drill holes for screw eyes prior to submerging ....glider
  7. After it is sealed double T.
  8. Hi dale, for sure ,if it works it works ! The stuff I use is a different brand name over here, but when I done some research it appears to be much the same product, I could definitely be wrong though ! It definitely seals out water and it is handily quick to use and dry. Like mark noticed, when coated with e-tex and heat gun used for busting bubbles, air from inside the blank can force itself out through the hardener causing a stream of tiny bubbles in the e-tex occasionally. Like I said, maybe the stuff you're using is different , if it works it works!...glider
  9. I've also used wood hardner for sealing to allow ballast adjustment in water, but once I fit the ballast I seal again with epoxy. I've found the 1 part wood hardner doesn't really harden the wood much and leaves a kinda tacky, almost uncured feel. I suspect this is because it's designed to be able to be applied to damp rotted wood. The vacum stabilising method massively effects buoyancy anglingarcher, and you can't really predict where it's likely to happen on the blank ...glider
  10. Works well ,looks the business, nice one ! Oh for a swimming pool test tank....glider
  11. I cut on bandsaw then final shape on bench disc sander...glider
  12. The spoons are nice, tiger pattern over chartreuse would be natty ......glider
  13. Kinda what I was thinking chiefsand, could the e-tex which will pull away from the edges and thus build up slightly elsewhere, i.e the joint, be enough to alter the joint ? When the E-tex pulls away from a sharp edge it can leave a residue very similar to fish eye where it seems whats left is an almost un-cured like residue which is slightly soft and sticky. I suspect you will be better with a different topcoat. Hope you get to the bottom of it........glider
  14. It can be tempting dale , with e-tex you end up with horrendous fish eye if paints not cured . Then you get to regret and possibly stamp you're feet(or much worse) ,swear to never do it again- till the next time !...glider
  15. Hi bricklayer, cant advise on com-art. In my experience With createx it depends on how many or how heavy the coats , a few light coats of transparents can be heat set/dried with hair dryer or heat gun and epoxied an hour later, whereas heavy or multiple coats of opaque take longer. I use a hairdryer on hottest setting for each coat to set regardless, be careful if you try this -it easy to burn or blister any undercoating. Ideally I heat set/dry and leave 24 hrs before epoxy, this works for me...glider
  16. Nice catch,I don't know about musky but I've proved to myself over and over that good wire will not result in less takes compared with someone using fluoro when it comes to pike , fluorocarbon and hard nylon can be bit through -good wire can't. A fish ain't left swimming around with a mouth full of trebles with wire.....glider
