  1. Nope I don't have a temp checking device... Could I just wait for the plastic to cool a bit and then add the glitter?
  2. Oh. So I should stir the glitter and then pour before the glitter has time to sink? Wouldn't the glitter settle to the bottom after I pour it into the mold?
  3. How do you guys get the glitter to spread evenly throughout the plastic? I tried to make it do that, but the glitter just sank to the bottom of the plastic.
  4. It looks pretty smooth to me, but I guess there may be some small blemishes here and there...
  5. Oh I'm actually using a silicone mold not an aluminum one.
  6. I just tried using some vegetable oil/Pam, and it kind of worked. Am I not using enough oil?
  7. I have no idea... All i got is that scent stuff in the spray bottle.
  8. Sounds good! I think I have a bit of that stuff lying around. I'll have to find it.
  9. Oh so it's kind of like that scent stuff that you spray on your baits?
  10. I'll try that, Mark. Is this a permanent fix or do I have to keep spraying it?
  11. My soft plastic swimbaits have "opaque" and cloudy sides when they come out of the mold... How can I fix this? I did search for more info on this topic, but I only found one thread that was slightly helpful. I'm using a silicone mold if that helps.
  12. Interesting... Well I guess I should check out all the other boxes of silicone that I got a while back Thanks for sharing!
  13. I'm pretty sure that unopened silicone will keep for a long time. I hadn't opened the silicone yet, so it should have been fine.... Just my thoughts
  14. The mold turned out great! I just poured a few new baits.
  15. Alright just poured the new mold! So far so good! The part A was a lot better than the last batch!
  16. Yeah, I'll check this batch to see if it's still good. If not I guess I won't buy any more from amazon...
  17. Well, I just contacted Amazon (that's where i bought it from) and they said they'll refund me! They're going to let me exchange both defective boxes of silicone for two new ones. We'll see if the new ones are any better.
  18. Yeah I don't think the part A should be the consistency of slightly chewed bubble gum.... I was kinda bummed because that silicone isn't cheap! I'll probably try to contact them and see if they'll refund me...
  19. Hey guys I just recently tried to make a mold with Oomoo 30 silicone. I hadn't run into any problems before, but when I went to open a new bottle of part A (the pink stuff), it was extremely thick. I mixed it for a long time, but it refused to soften. I still tried to make the mold but it was so bad that I decided to open a different bottle of the part A. It had the same problem. Again, I tried to make a mold and it failed miserably. Did I get a defective batch of silicone? Can this be fixed? Please help!
  20. Thanks guys! I've probably been trying to get a good coat of epoxy for about a year now! With your help, i think i've finally made it!
  21. Well i just tried doing two thinner coats on one of my trout sb's, and it turned out really well! There was a part with a little too much epoxy, but other than that it looks good! I think with a little more practice I'll be able to do a perfect clear coat... Thanks so much, TU!
  22. Good to know! I actually just epoxied a shad swimbait, but I was lazy and just did one semi-thick coat... It was a decent coat, but it did have one or two fish eyes. I should really try more coats...
  23. I use envirotex lite. Yeah, it says that the full cure time is about seven days.
