  1. Not fishing related but sorta the same.

One of my air hose suppliers just sent me a letter, sorry no resins available so we are not able to mfg air hoses for an unknown time.

The hose's are made in the US but who knows where the resins come from.

    And yes a 25-50% increase.

  2. Funny you should bring this up.

Last night checked and have colors in my whish list (fishing skirts) from April 6 2021.

How can it be (ya I know) in this day and age that skirts are only made in 1 or 2 places in the world?

Is the manufacturing so toxic that it can't be done in the US? Is there only one machine in the world? Is labor sooo much cheaper?

Seems as though there could be somewhere in the US they could be made.

That being said I wish there was someone who put together a "cross" reference for the part numbers from companies for the different "brands", just to get close sometimes.

It's so dang hard to try and pick a color from a picture on the internet only to order it and go aw shit that isn't even close to what I was looking for.

    Just saying.

  3. So I got to admit I tried the DOP.

The fanboys over on the DOP FaceBook page do nothing but rave about it.

Well I bought the Finesse blend for some small ice baits and was very unhappy with it. No matter how long I waited or cooled the molds the legs on most small creatures came out deformed and they stayed "sticky" and would not cure. Coarse the answer they had was, you must not have stirred, shaken or blended it enough. I had. Well then you must not have heated it enough, I had. Well then you must have heated it to much, I had not. Well you should buy a vac chamber, I have one. Then I got to looking at the bottles after it had sat for some time and it was obvious that they had not mixed the drum enough before they put it in the bottles. I mixed the 3 bottles together and sorta got it to work.

Time to go back to MF.

  4. Someone over on the Facebook page had them custom made. Only had them made in 2/O and only sold like a 1000 at a time.I have made some using a modified Do-It mold and the sinker inserts just make sure they are the steel ones and not the brass ones.....so far no failures.image.thumb.png.0784947634df06c0ed09b1f8d5fdac07.png

  5. I personally would not use an infrared thermometer.

Get yourself a good immersion quick read type.

When I first started baits I used a very expensive infrared thermometer and found out right away that it only measures surface temperature not the inner temp. It also depends what the  emissivity of the plastic is. Black would measure one temp while whites another when in fact they were the same temperature.

  6. Set a notification alert on your credit card for what ever amount you want. Every time there is  a charge meeting or exceeding the amount  there is a text, e-mail or both sent to you. You then know the instant a charge is made on your account. In most cases I get the alert before I even remove my card from the machine, solves a lot of problems.

  7. With harbor freight sometimes it's hard to say what it does.

HF is calling it a "flow regulator?", which explains why when you let off it goes back up to tank pressure.

What your looking for is a "pressure" regulator. With a pressure regulator you can set the pressure and it maintains the set pressure whether the gun is spraying or not.

  8. I tried the epoxy route once and wasn't for me.

Used Sally Hansen this summer on some chatter and spinner baits and had real good luck.

Used the KBS Diamond coat the other night for the first time.

As per lots of reading I transferred mine into glass canning jars with seals and am using the argon from Diamond coat.

Yes it does have a powerful smell!

That being said it must be good if it smells really bad?

Nice thing is that I could have it shipped to Montana (winter here) and not have any freezing problems.

  10. It kinda looks like this post is going a bit sideways.

That being said I'm human. I make mistakes, some times I can even laugh at them.

Bottom line, I have ordered a lot from almost every company that's been mentioned and each has made a mistake at one time or another, it happens. They have always made it right.

I believe that one's attitude also effects the out come.

If I didn't order from one of them just because they made a mistake I wouldn't have anywhere to get any supplies from, which I guess the wife would like.

  11. To bad there's not more people that would take the time to share and work with kids as you did.

In our area they have a hooked on fishing program. In the past there are times when 1/2 the parents have never been fishing much more made their own baits.

  12. I am going down the same road and have read till my head hurts.

I just today ordered a Badger 105 Patriot.

Can't say it's the best as I haven't gotten it yet but has come very highly recommended.

Next comes the paint, another can of worms.

I also just order a bunch of Createx Wicked colors.

Now lots of experimenting and You-tube video.
