  1. Hey everyone I'm new to making my own lures I've done some hand pouring with plaster of Paris molds I made at home but decided that I would try an aluminum injection mold for a craw body soft plastic bait. Recommendations would be appreciated if you like a specific craw mold.
  2. I would like to start pouring my own baits. I put a lot of money into yamamoto and others every year...I look for the deals at stores to make it cheaper.but I find myself wanting to pour my own baits...id like to start with injecting instead of hand pour.....looking for help.....molds id like to buy would be a yamamoto flappin hog knock off and senkos, worm molds..im looking for all the help I can get....
  3. Has anybody used silicone mold making products? There must be a down side, do they not hold up long or what? http://www.alumilite.com/ProdDetail.cfm?Category=Silicone Amazing Mold Rubber Tim
  4. Ok guys, I have some questions......... I have been making hard lures and spinners for a while now, but am really getting into this soft plastic stuff. I tend to jump into things with both feet, so save me if you can! lol There are some things I just don't get. At least I think I don't..... I ordered some Amazing Mold Rubber from (Alumilite 3/4 lb) I made a small mold tonight (4" X 5" X 1-1/4") and of course it took it all to make it. That was $20.00 worth of mold material. I can buy a similar mold from Lurecraft for $11.00 plus shipping, which would make it about $20.00. Apart from the obvious of being able to customize molds, and design your own shapes, is there a reason to make your own instead of buying them? Can the material be gotten cheaper elsewhere, or is there a better way? Here's another thing. The "Alumisol soft plastic was $39.00 for a gallon. I figure at least a half ounce to and ounce each for like 4" swim bates for example. That calculates out to about .30 per swim bait. I can buy them on luresonline.com for .29 already made. Am I missing something here, or is it just all about the fun and challenge? I guess what I am really wanting to know, is there a cheaper, better source of materials that I don't know about that would change the game, or is this about what everybody is paying for materials and molds? Thanks, Tim
  5. Yep as the title saids, "Rusty Baits" I'd encountered this when I was making one of my new baitfish mold lures which should of have been all white. And somehow there was rust from where one of the grub was on a hook that rusted from not been dryed off yet which made the hook n bait rust: The core of the bait was rusted. So when melting a batch of these used grubs to make these baitfish baits the first one turned into the colour I call, "crème orange" which created from all white grubs to a orange-fleshy baits instead. So when melting recycled baits make sure that all or any don't have a rusted center....If you want to see the pictures of this bizarre creation it's under the soft plastic gallery..... On a side note make sure that if you have recycled baits in a single bag take them out immediately (if it's not a single brand's color) or put them in a singular bags of each different type of brands' colours because for an example even a strike king watermelon will not be the same as a zoom watermelon... so separate them...
  6. I'm attempting to make an RTV mold. What's the best way to secure my master, which is soft plastic, to the mold container? I've tried super glue and it did'nt hold the master very well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
