  1. Griffond

    spoons refurbished

So I finally managed to track down the pic I took of all the spoons the kids and I did. All these spoons were bought at are local junk shop and I got a pile more of them then this. They for like 10 for $3 since they were all rusty or missing most of the paint etc... I sanded off all the faces and primered them all and we went to town with painters tape and rattle cans... the goofy designs on some are from the kids choices of stuff. Needless to say in the best Northern Pike lake we have they all caught fish and what a cheap project to do. They all got two coats of auto clear which seems to hold up almost as good as powder coat.
  2. Has anybody used Krylon glitter paint in a rattle can for some flash?
  3. Looking to match a lure top coat on some spinnerbaits. I think it is a white base coat. Then a clear with a neon green and blue super fine glitter suspended giving it a holographic effect. I will be applying ot the body and blades I can't find a color chart for the Pro-Tec Glitter Top Coat. I can brush liquid or dip powder since I am only doing a few one offs. I will be matching this on twin willow leafs with a custom Silicone Pearl/Blk Flake Blue Tint Holographic skirt. The idea is for our western clear water lakes that have shad. The bass seems to respond to white willow leafs and ghost/holographic baits. Thanks in advance for any help.

    7 2 2013Crankbait

I airbrushed this clearance rack Cotton Cordell deep diver last night. I did it in a Black back, hand mixed chartreuse, pearlized white mist the bottom (just a tad), and pink throat. Tell me what ya think.
  5. Here is a crankbait I made last night for a friend. I call it Royal Grape. Its an RC 2.5 clone blank, primered white with Krylon plasticote, bottom is yellow creatix airbrush paint, the purple color is walmart 99 cent bottle acrylic diluted 50/50 with water until consistency of milk, with 2 drops of black creatix, and 2 drops of acrylic cobalt blue. the gill markings are red sharpie marker, and the kill dot is black sharpie marker and I used a metal washer as a template for the dot. The epoxy is locktite 5min epoxy, dliluted with a bit of irubbing alcohol and blue/purple/silver and a tad of yellow glitter mixed into it and put on the dry wheel over night. Its hard to see the silver glitter as I didnt put much in the mix, and it blends into the white. you can see a little bit of the yellow glitter along the back spine. I forgot to take the tape off the bill before i snapped the picture. I'm new to airbrushing and painting cranks, please tell me what you think of this one..
  6. Hows it going everybody? Newbie here, and just painted up my first couple spoons. Now i'm just looking for a clear coat for them. Dick Nite clear coat is the front runner now. Any suggestions? 7. I have searched through the forums and haven't been able to really find what i was looking for so i figured i should just start a new topic and hopefully all you guys will read it and help me out. For the airbrush i was originally looking at the iwata revolution br to use for painting my crankbaits but i looking to see if i could find a little cheaper gun in the iwata brand since i here they are pretty much top of the line. I came across the iwata neo CN gravity feed dual action airbrush. It seems to be pretty good and almost the same as the br. I was just wondering if anyone else has used this brush and had success with it. I was also looking at getting a couple of the harbor freight brushes for spraying glitter and clear coat and was wondering if anyone else has done this. I will post the link to the iwata below http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/neo-cn-gravity-feed-dual-action-airbrush-395327/ Also on compressors i was looking at 2 different ones and i really dont know the difference between them so i was hoping yall would take a look at these to links for me and see if you could see tell me if there would be a difference in performance and which of the ones yall would prefer. Heres the 2 links. http://www.harborfreight.com/1-8-eighth-hp-40-psi-oilless-airbrush-compressor-93657.html http://www.harborfreight.com/1-5-hp-58-psi-compressor-and-airbrush-kit-95630.html Please and thanks to all of yall on TU for yalls great input
  8. Okay, so I make my highly detailed soft lure and airbrush it with the spike it paint. If I now dip it in plastisol will I not loose the fine external detail ??
  9. I finally fixed the order problem for you guys! I built a new order page for TackleUndergrounders! No more of the old, "send an email, wait for a response and for me to pack the order and weigh it so I can send you a PayPal invoice, wait for a response, me get the payment, write up the order in the computer, put the shipment into the UPS software, print the label, and ship the order all while you wait again" process... Trust me, I appreciate the hassle it has been for all of you, and I assure it has been no cake-walk here either... Well, it's all fixed, in place, and ready to roll! Now, you simply go to the site, click "Add to Cart" for the items you want, enter your information for PayPal, click "Check Out" and it automatically gives you your approximately 65% discount, figures the shipping (using a flat $10 rate now - I'll eat whatever more it is in order to expedite this process), takes your payment, and sends the order directly to my shipping department! Orders should ship the next business day from now on! Here's the link to the new order page - it's the same as the old link: http://www.dicknite.com/TU_Lander.htm You might want to bookmark it, make it a favorite, or whatever it is called in your browser, because it is not accessible from the main web site. It is only for TackleUnderground members and their friends and families! You are still getting the same price large-scale manufacturers get. It's in the neighborhood of 65% off of retail. The prices listed on the site include the discount, so there are no codes to put in, or hoops to jump through. Since you are going there from TU, I know you are legit! I plan on adding a few things to it in the future, like clicking on each paint color and having it pop up a window with information about it, MSDS sheet downloads, and the like, but for now, this is going to solve the biggest problem we have had - you having to wait for this fat old-guy to catch up enough to get the orders processed manually! I really want to thank you all for your patience over the past several years. You have been more than generous with your understanding and I can't express how much that has meant to me. TackleUndergrounders are the absolute best customers I have! Thanks again, Dick
  10. How many times does it take you to get the paint job that you want? Do you usually get it right the first time or does it take you multiple tries?Unfortunately i usually start over several times.
  11. Hey everyone, I'm working on my swimbaits and can't decide on which fish pattern I should do next. I've already done my rainbow trouts a couple times now and want to try something new and challenging. The fish I'm thinking of; Native Cutthroat Trout, Brook Trout, Yellow Perch, Largemouth Bass. I put a picture of my rainbow trout so you can see my style of painting. Also a picture of my new swimbait that is needing the paint job. I'm leaning towards painting a cutthroat trout but still like those other fish patterns. Let me know guys, thanks.
  12. Ive been experimenting with foil wrapping my crankbaits, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to go about painting them to get a nice shine. I've read that you're supposed to coat the lure before painting, but I'm thinking that if you don't paint the foil before coating, that the foil won't shine through the paint... I painted one last night directly on the foil and it doesn't shine through either (the paint is opaque, so you can't even tell that I foil wrapped it, it looks like a normal painted lure). I was told that "glass paint" or "window paint" will allow the foil to shine through the paint. WHAT KIND OF PAINT DO YOU GUYS USE WHEN FOIL WRAPPING? AND HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS?

  14. I want to begin making some more professional looking lures and would like to buy a lathe and an airbrush kit. I would like to spend less than $200. I already have a dremel 200 which allows me to make extremely custom and unique lures, but I would like a lathe to speed up the process. Here are the best values I have found on lathes-tell me if you know of any other values or are selling a lathe yourself. - http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00922106000P?mv=rr - http://www.grizzly.com/products/H2669 - http://www.harborfreight.com/garage-shop/stationary-wood-lathes/8-inch-x-12-inch-bench-top-wood-lathe-95607.html - http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/col/tls/2816616599.html Lathe tools- - http://www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-wood-lathe-turning-tool-kit-3793.html Airbrushing supplies- - http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/createx-airbrush-paint/ - http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/paasche-airbrush-sets/460160.aspx - http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/fishing-lure-paint/023025000411.aspx Tell me what you think. 15. Ok I am having a hard time finding some good soft plastic paints. I am looking to be able to paint like the huddleston deluxes and decoy baits these baits have alot more color and natural look than the stuff you get from lure craft. Does any one know what kind of paints these companies are using? Thanks!
