  1. so i am designing a mix between a crank-bait and a spinner-bait i am calling it an inspin a lure that should in theory combine the flash of a spinner blade and the look of a crankbait by having a hole drilled right thru it and what i have determined to be a metal insert tube that has the spinner blade on a wire that runs through it what i need to know is what i am capable of using as that wire i found somewhere that piano wire may work but i cant find any info anywhere else other than on aircraft forums and i also need to know the best way to make the insert weather welding, brazing, or soldering i have inventor files if anyone needs them to better understand what i'm talking about i should also say i'm sorry if i messed up the title i have never used a forum before and had no idea what to title it

  4. Surely I'm not the first one to think of this. I am new to this site and to lure making in general, and just recently started building bass jigs from scratch and realized I had everything I needed except a skirting tool. So I came up with this simple solution with an ink pen. Used a piece of copper wire to pull the silicone tabs through the pen.
  5. Hey guys! New member here. I grew up a bass fisherman and was taught how to fish a spinnerbait and a jig by an older gentleman almost 15 years ago. My fishing buddy was also an avid lure maker and I have memories of spending weekends in high school in his basement learning how to make R bends and blend skirts. Unfortunately my friend has had some serious medical issues and has been forced to not only give up fishing but also lure making. Recently he decided to pass down a large part of his inventory and tools to me and I am very grateful, however, I have been living and fishing in an inshore environment in SC for the last 6 years. While he will forget more than I will ever learn about building and fishing spinnerbaits for bass, he has limited redfish/trout experience. I have been chasing redfish/trout almost exclusively for the last six years and I am wondering how to turn these "freshwater" baits into inshore baits. I am not concerned with the strength of the hooks/tackle in general. I am curious if anyone has gone down this journey and would be willing to share some tips and tricks. I have started with "in-line" spinners with my favorite paddle tail as a trailer but am looking to move to spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
  6. I've been making baits for a couple years but just recently started building spinnerbaits. I'm trying 2 makeep the heads look professional by airbrushing but I'm having a terrible time gettin good even coverage. Is there a good primer I can use or any other tricks? Thanks

  9. I bought some wire to build my first spinnerbaits, but I think I screwed up and got the wrong type. I bought Bend-and-Stay 302/304 Stainless Steel Wire .32 and .38 diameter. Both types of wire are wound up and stored in a small spool and they seem to flexible to use for a Spinnerbait. What type of wire should I use? Thanks for the help guys!

  15. Looking to match a lure top coat on some spinnerbaits. I think it is a white base coat. Then a clear with a neon green and blue super fine glitter suspended giving it a holographic effect. I will be applying ot the body and blades I can't find a color chart for the Pro-Tec Glitter Top Coat. I can brush liquid or dip powder since I am only doing a few one offs. I will be matching this on twin willow leafs with a custom Silicone Pearl/Blk Flake Blue Tint Holographic skirt. The idea is for our western clear water lakes that have shad. The bass seems to respond to white willow leafs and ghost/holographic baits. Thanks in advance for any help.
