  1. Based on research here, I recently ordered a bunch of size 2 (large) Figure 8 links from LurePartsOnline. I'm having a terrible time bending them to close the side thats not already an open loop. Compared to the medium size (where the loops are both more "complete"), plus the diameter of the wire itself (fairly stout), any bend I get to complete the "8" just destroys the link. What am I missing? I considered heating the link to make it bend better/easier... but that seems like overkill. Below is a screen shot of the med/large sizes that shows how "extra open" the large size is vs the medium. Also included is a shot of one of the links I have. Is there a magic pair of wire-bending pliers that does the trick?
  2. First of all, this community of makers is incredible and I've learned so much trolling through the forums, so thanks to so many of you for contributing so much of your knowledge into this site. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SMALLJAW'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING WITH YOUR LIFE. Alright, arse kissing aside... Just wondering if anyone has ever tried using goby shaped heads for making vibrating jigs with the single split ring method. I've been making my vibrating jigs by hammering out the hook eyes of my poison tail jigs with a nail set and directly attaching the blades. It works OK... but on at least a couple occasions I've reeled in nothing but a blade. I don't know about you, but I'n not all that into donating hand poured, painted, and tied, hybrid skirted jigs made with all my damn love and attention to the bottom of the lake. I'm still getting comfortable throwing vibrating jigs in situations where I may have typically thrown a swim jig or spinnerbait. Instead of buying a new jig mold with flat eyes, I thought I would try buying a couple dozen of these flat eyed, 60' goby heads (while they are on sale) and trying them out.
  3. i'm thinking of making own jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits out of tin or Aluminum. has anyone had any success trying this?
  4. Hey guys new here and I am looking for unpainted chatterbait heads I don't want to use the split ring idea anymore or I would mold my own I know Barlows tackle used to sell them with a long shank hook just like the original chatterbait looking for the closest thing to that help please !
  5. Hi there , folks , Just got this bait delivered from US Ebay , .....it was pretty cheap and I bought it out of curiousity , as I had never seen nothing like this before . I know , that these chatterblades are supposed to be attached to leadheads , though I had never fished such lures before as well , .......but now to a hardbait , too ??? Just putting it up in here to ask , how to fish and work this thing for local pike , especially in which manner to attach it it to the line , .........would the round eye of the connector be the attachement eye or vice versa the elongated oval eye , ...don't have any clue . And also , what would this bait do in the water , how would it swim , ....what would be the most effective way of retrieve ? I'd also like to know the manufacturer or distributing company , ......so if someone out there knows , ......please go ahead ! Thanks a lot for your replies , ......please make me smarter ! Greetz , diemai
