  1. Hello everyone! When I have built resin baits in the past I have been mostly using Smooth on Feather lite but I have recently started to play more with mixing the ballons into the resin by my self. I am using Alumilite RC-3 and Alumilite Micro ballons. Do you guys have any tip on how to figure out the right amount fast? Resin is exspensive :D! I always seems to mix too much so I need to throw away a lot of resin OR to little. I want the density o the resin to be something like Beech wood, something around 0,70 - 0,80. I also think I prefer to do it by weight and not by volume like everyone seems to do on Youtube wich cant be that accurate? Thanks. /David
  2. Hey everybody, this is my first post here on TU, and I hope i'm not regurgitating past topics here but... I just cast my first resin glide bait, a 8.5" rainbow trout. My first casting was as a single-piece, but I decided to lay the molds out flat and try it in two pieces. The reason for this was to try and cut weight by hollowing out the front and rear sections when it had cured (which I did), then epoxy everything together. The result is still 7.5 ounces, as pictured. So, my question is: Is it possible to cut this weight of something like this down to, say, 4.5 or 5 ounces? Is there a technique/resin type that can help cut the weight down? I'm using a two-piece silicone mold based upon a hand carved wood trout design I made. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
  3. Hey guys I make 6.5" and 8.5" swimbaits made out of poplar wood and they have incredible action. However, I am debating on cutting down on the time of carving all of these out and switching to resin. I have no clue how to get started on this or what the best/optimal process is for converting my wood baits to resin. I dont know what resin I need, what mold making/silicone material I need. Should I cut the wood blank into segments before casting the mold and then piece it together after the resin one is cast? Or should I cut the resin into segments after it is cast? Can anyone give me a step by step process that works for them? Or maybe even a video? Thanks, Paden

  6. Does anybody know how I could go about molding clear crankbaits with the bill? I want it to float, any help would be appreciated.
  7. I have a problem. When I put coat on my lures it wont stick to the lure everywhere. I got so called (fisheyes). I think it has something to do with that they are not clean enough after the casting because of the release agent. I have cleaned the lures in my washing machine AND by hand before painting. I have primed the lures with two layers using Motip White base primer. It feels like they should be clean like a surgical hospital tool!!! What am I doing wrong?
  8. How do everyone attach the weights in the molds before casting? I have tried to attach it to the through wire but I thought that was a pain in the ass cause I wanted the weights in the very low of the belly and the lower part just behind the middle hook and needed to bend the wire in so many places. And I felt that it was hard to get the lead to stay in the exact same position every time i Casted :/. I have searched the internet for information about it many times without luck. I asked Solarfall (Solarbaits) but he said that it is a secret how he do it ! I have molded lead in bars. 8mm and 10mm thick. How do I attach it to the resin-mold easy and perfect everytime?
