Big Spoons

Recommended Posts

Okay. Do any of you make big spoons similar to big salmon trolling spoons. There was an Ultimate Match Fishing episode where Kelly Jordon ripped his opponents casting an ounce and 1/2 spoon (flat chrome) that was about 5 inches long. He would cast it out on a river ledge and flutter it up and let it fall back. He stroked them.

Well we found the guy that makes them in Texas and his spoons are $7 or $8 each. If I going to spend that kind of money it might be cheaper to just get the materials and start making them myself.

Any thoughts. The spoon is from Weedless Lures in texas and it's called a Big Joe.

Seven or eight dollars is about par for the course, and not too bad if they really hammer the fish. Stamina has nickel "fingerling" casting spoon blanks in the 4-4/3" 1oz size for $11.20 for 5, and their nickel "pro scale" spoons in 4-1/2" 1-1/4oz size for $21.60 per 10. That's about the best deal I've seen for the spoon size/weight you're describing. I've bought some of their smaller sized fingerling spoons, and they swim nice.

Other than that, check out the Krocodile spoons at Cabela's. Good luck!
