Ryan
What is the best way to paint a jig with a weed guard. I have not had much luck with powder paints and I don't have and airbrush. I dip my paints but that takes a lot of time plus I don't have a drying wheel. But I could make one with my rod dryer. Thanks Ryan.
bassn1
Before I started using powder paint I used to paint with rattle cans. Just stick the jig into a piece of cardboard so just the head is showing and use a straw to cover the weedgaurd. Appliance enamel paint worked the best. Alot of other paint would react with plastic. chill
I have been using Powder Paint for all my Jigs. I had a problem with the weedguards but kept tinkering with it until I found something that works for me. It is not for large qty's I normally do 25 or 50 at a time. I found some brass tubes in Hobby Lobby and cut them to length of the weedguards(if anyone has a better tube please let me know)then heat and dip in the powder paint. When I tried the first time of course the weedguards looked like a Japenese fan. So I have found that if you will take bread ties and tie at the top of the guard just tight enough not to fall off then cure in oven for what ever the temp and time for weed guards. I hope this might help.
charkins
I paint my heads before I put in the weed guard. I use a dremel to remove the powder paint. place some 30 minute epoxy on the weed guard and insert it in the hole. Align it like you want it and it is dry in a bit. For me this is a whole lot easier and consistent.
