I have been reading on some European sites about coating balsa with "dope" before painting. Apparently it helps tighten and prepare the surface of the wood before it is painted. Can someone tell me what "dope" is (the smokeless version please) and what would be a comparable product here in the USA?

I believe what they are talking about are coatings similiar to what fly tiers use as head cement....it's similiar to clear fingernail polish...actually,you will get a stronger finish if you coat the raw wood with Devcon 2ton epoxy...nathan
