For the scales most guys here use some form of mesh netting to achieve a pretty decent pattern. You can buy it at most fabric shops and many produce bags have a great scale pattern!

I know of the scales you are talking about and have heard you can buy them. The new spro bbz shad has them on it. They are awesome, please let us know if you find them.

Look at the WASCO website. They have several stencils available and all are very good. I use the bluegill , crappie and smallmouth. buy the smallest one available. Mark Smith(Smuttly Dog)

Jed those scales are not painted on the spro baits or lucky cratfs. Those baits with the larger holographic scale come out of thier own seperate molds. The detailing in those particular molds has those larger scales in them. The baits are then foiled or plated etc and you get that effect. Look closley at one the next time you see one and you will know.

I bought some of those decals about 5 years ago. LuckyCraft used to sell them in Japan. They no longer make them- at least that is what they told me a couple of years ago. Wish they still did;)

That WASCO site is amazing! I don't do foiling (yet) but that scale roller looks like it would be perfect for embossing scales in foil.
And all the stuff there is tops.
Thanks for the site.

That's fan-"f"ing-tastic! What a beautiful lure!
Is it hard to do the foil application?

I'd also like to see some small stensils... I just use wedding veil, or mesh now..

That wasco tool does make a nice scale pattern, I still prefer the old fashioned ratchet handle method. I think with the smaller sized scales produced with the textured ratchet handle there are alot more facets to give off more of a reflexion
