Chatter bait blades

Recommended Posts

I have been able to find the blades that barlows sells through barlows and several other sites, but what I am looking for is a black nickel blade. Has anyone seen anywhere that you can buy these?

You can use Witchlite stick on tape and cut it out to profile. The stuff is awesome.

Blades can also be powder coated. We powder coat and bake blades on some of the colors we make. We bend them first. One negative is if the customer wants to change the bend it breaks the powder coat. The powder doesn't affect the action and it looks good.

Since most chatter blades are made out of aluminum, you could anodize them. That way you could make them any color you wanted. And the best part is you get to mix chemicals in your garage. But please don't :sauced: before you do this. I would hate to see one of my fellow TU buddies make the morning news.

Most of my success lately with chatter baits has been while using the black/blued blade & head...they virtually disappear in the water.

I have cut out stainless blades and torched them until they were red,and when they cool they carry a black/blued tint.

My next idea is to try a gun bluing chemical...not sure if this is how they get that color or not,but I think I'm onto something.

I also have a buddy that just closed his jewlery buisiness and he has a piece of equipment that can be used to plate blades heads any color he says...I have not discussed this process much though.

Another thought...C S Coating's Lure Dip...link below.
